Many family historians spend most of their time on Ancestry, but some of my best discoveries have come from looking beyond Ancestry.

These websites have helped me find records I didn't know existed and provided clues for some of my more difficult family history problems.

It's National Sewing Machine Day and this is my great-grandmother Ellen's singer sewing machine.. it's not just any Singer Sewing Machine. It's called a Sphinx. It was probably about 45 to $55 when it came on the market .

At one time my mother gave it to my brother because she thought that he liked it but he actually just wanted my dad to get it for my mom when my grandparents had an auction. Turns out my brother felt like it was haunted so he gave it to me. I've never felt that it was haunted..
