The Annual Bridge Of Life

The Annual Bridge Of Life The Annual Bridge Of Life Su***de Prevention/Awareness Candlelight Walk and Vigil is dedicated to Su***de Prevention/Awareness within our community.

(Started 2016 till present day )
September 10 , World Su***de Prevention Day.
“You are NOT alone!” The Annual Bridge of Life event is a Su***de Prevention/Awareness Candlelight Walk and Vigil held on the High Level Bridge. It takes place every year on September 10, which is recognized as National Su***de Prevention Day. Participants gather in Constable Ezio Faraone Park for refreshments, musical

entertainment, and speeches from guest speakers. This event aims to foster conversations about su***de and to honor the memory of those we have lost. The Annual Bridge of Life began on September 10, 2016, initiated by the Edmonton Mental Health Awareness Committee, and has since been continued by past members of the YEG Mental Health Committee (formerly known as EMHAC). The Annual Bridge of Life is not a fundraiser; it is strictly an awareness event.

The Annual Bridge Of Life Su***de Prevention/Awareness Candlelight Walk & Vigil is excited to announce our second musical guest of the evening Emmet Michael.

"Introspective and enthralling, with equal parts grit and grace, Emmet Michael is a musician who was built on his trials. Turning to music in his darkest times, he found solace in his ability to share his heart with others through his lyrics. Drawing on his experience of coming out as q***r, living with mental illness, and battling addiction, his songs carry a tone of desperation and sorrow. With soulful melodies and heart wrenching lyrics, his music conveys a message that is both powerful and vulnerable. Entirely unique, yet familiar."

Thank you Emmet Michael for joining us September 10 for this special evening.

We are pleased to share that Edmonton’s Poet Laureate, Medgine Mathurin, will join the Bridge Of Life Su***de Prevention and Awareness Candlelight Walk & Vigil to share her poetry with us.

She recently completed her two-year term as Chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee with Health Quality Alberta, a provincial committee that promotes patient-centered care across the health system. Medgine is a two-time recipient of awards from the National Black Coalition of Canada (NBCC), having received the Fil Fraser Award for outstanding contributions to the literary and performing arts, and the Dr. John Akabutu Award for resilience.

We’re happy to share that this year’s Bridge of Life event will feature a very talented artist.
Aynsley Nisbet will create a painting during the evening, and after the event, we’ll auction her artwork.
All proceeds will support Momentum Counselling.

Aynsley Nisbet is a visual artist from Edmonton, Alberta. She is known for her bright scenic expressions and unique abstract style, sometimes resembling cubism. Many of her paintings contain very spiritual and anthropomorphic images; exploring themes of shamanism, the human experience, connectivity to nature and universal energy.

Thank you for being part of this important night Aynsley.
