Four things are shifting in your metabolism in perimenopause.

Where fat gets stored changes. Insulin sensitivity decreases. Muscle breaks down faster. And the hormones that regulate hunger and fullness become less reliable.

None of these changes are caused by eating the wrong things or moving too little. They are biological shifts driven by the hormonal changes of perimenopause. And every one makes weight management harder without a different strategy.

What I see consistently in clinical practice is women who have blamed themselves for years. They reduced calories. They increased exercise. They cut out food groups. Nothing worked the way it once did.

It didn’t work because the metabolic environment changed. No one told them that.

These four changes are where I always start with a new patient. You can’t build a useful plan without understanding what you’re working with.

Save this. This is the context most women in perimenopause never get.

Every year you wait is not a neutral year.

Most women don’t gain weight all at once. It’s three pounds this year. Four the next. A pant size that quietly changed.

Sleep becomes less reliable. Energy stops showing up the way it used to. And the default response is: I’ll figure it out. I’ll try harder.

As a Nurse Practitioner working with women 40+, I see what accumulates when the metabolic shift goes unaddressed. It’s not just the number on the scale. It’s muscle that gets harder to rebuild each year. It’s a hormonal environment that doesn’t self-correct on its own.

The frustration you feel is real. But so is the cost of waiting.

If you’ve been gaining weight in and everything you’ve tried has stopped working, that’s not a discipline problem. That’s a signal worth paying attention to.

Follow if you want the clinical truth about what’s actually happening in your body after 40.

If you’ve been thinking…

“Why doesn’t anything work anymore?”

I want you to know something.

Your body isn’t broken.

The advice many women have been given simply doesn’t reflect what happens to the body after 40.

As estrogen changes, muscle gradually declines, sleep often worsens, appetite regulation shifts, and metabolism becomes more complex.

Yet women are still being told to simply eat less and exercise more.

As a Nurse Practitioner specializing in women’s metabolic health, I believe you deserve better than generic advice or another restrictive diet.

You deserve to understand why your body has changed and how to work with it instead of constantly fighting against it.

That’s why everything I share here focuses on evidence-informed, medically guided strategies for women 40+, including:

• Metabolic health
• Sustainable weight loss
• GLP-1 medications
• Perimenopause and menopause
• Hormone therapy

If that sounds like the kind of information you’re looking for, I’m glad you’re here.

GLP-1 medications don’t remove the work. They make the work possible. Patients still have to prioritize protein, preserve muscle, exercise, plan meals, navigate side effects, and build habits they’ll keep long after the prescription.

We don’t call blood pressure medication the easy way out. We don’t call antidepressants the easy way out. Obesity is a chronic disease, and treating it with evidence-based medicine isn’t cheating, it’s healthcare.

For well over a year, I’ve had an idea sitting in the back of my mind…

And this fall, I’m finally making it happen. 💚

I’m launching The Metabolic Shift Newsletter—a monthly email dedicated to helping women better understand their bodies and navigate weight, metabolism, and hormones with evidence-based information.

My goal isn’t to add more noise to your inbox.

It’s to help you cut through the confusion with practical education, honest conversations, and actionable strategies you can apply to your own health.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering…

• Why is my body changing?
• Why isn’t what used to work working anymore?
• Is it hormones, metabolism, or something else?
• What actually works, and what’s just another trend?

…this newsletter is for you.

💌 If you’d like to be one of the first to receive it, send me a DM with the word “SHIFT” and I’ll add you to the list.

It's not about the number on the scale, but about ✨feeling like yourself again✨.

That's why I am building The Metabolic Shift Method™.

A program that looks beyond the prescription and focuses on everything that actually supports long-term success. Nutrition, preserving muscle, strength training, metabolic health, sustainable habits, and, when appropriate, GLP-1 medication.

Because my goal has never been to help women lose weight.

It's to help them build a healthier body they can maintain. And most importantly, help them feel like themselves again .

If that sounds like the kind of support you've been looking for, I'd love to have you here. 🫶🏼

A setback does not erase your progress…and it does not mean you need to start over.

Instead of becoming more restrictive or criticizing yourself, get curious:

What made this difficult?
What support or adjustment might help?
What is one small step I can take next?

Then take that step.
Your next balanced meal.
A short walk.
More protein.
An earlier bedtime.
Asking for support.

You do not need to wait until Monday.
Learn, adjust, and keep moving forward. 💚

These are a few of my favourite things. 💚

Not because they’re “magic weight loss shots.”

Because when prescribed to the right person, and used the right way, they can:

✓ Reduce food noise
✓ Improve insulin resistance
✓ Support meaningful, sustainable weight loss
✓ Lower the risk of obesity-related complications
✓ Help people feel like themselves again

The medication is just one piece of the puzzle.

The real transformation comes from combining it with nutrition, movement, behaviour change, muscle preservation, and ongoing medical guidance.

That’s exactly how I practice.

If you’re wondering whether GLP-1 medication is right for you, I’d love to help you understand your options.
