Follow up CT Scan ✅
Oncology appointment ✅

Did I get the result I wanted from today’s appointment 📅….No

I have been very sick for over 2 weeks now. At first I thought it was the stomach flu 😷

We even started buying bottled water thinking maybe our water was bad 💧

I am going to the washroom 4-10 times a day.

Plus the vomiting.

Then there is the sweats….The intense stomach pain and cramps….And of course being fatigued and weak…

The oncologist is not willing to start any treatment until this issue is resolved.

Her feeling is it is diverticulitis or Irritable bowel disease 🦠 (very different from Irritable Bowel syndrome)

She is really leaning towards Chrons or ulcerative colitis…

So she sent an urgent referral for a scope and it’s booked for September 1st.

I completely broke down today….And I mean ugly crying doesn’t even cut it….

I am beyond tired mentally and physically…

To be honest I don’t know how much more I can take.

And Yes I know I need to be grateful I am still alive…I get that comment all the time.

I can be grateful to be alive but also be upset, angry, sad and whatever else emotion I feel.

I grieve a lot of things lately….It just feels that I am loosing more and more of myself with every new diagnosis, treatment and side effects..

I am grateful to be alive but I am also very very tired of every hurdle being thrown in my face.

Living with cancer treatment side effects is a full time job.

I didn’t realize that I would be dealing with so many side effects almost a year post chemo, surgery and radiation .

I have been dealing with extreme shortness of breathe, fast heart rate, lightheaded and dizziness since December 2025.

I have been telling my medical team something isn’t right.

The did an Echocardiogram, pulmonary function test. Both showed my heart and lungs were functioning normal.

Then in June 2026 it got worse. I ended up in the ER, even the paramedics thought it was a heart attack.

After blood work, EKG, Xray and CT scan I was finally diagnosed with radiation Pneumitis in the upper part of my left lung. There is also some things happening in the lower lobe, however we have to try and clear up the radiation scaring first.

8 weeks of a high dose of steroids that slowly tapers off…..Another medication to help with the tenderness and pain.

Next steps:
1. Appointment with Radiation Oncologist this week.
2. Appointment with oncologist in early August
3. CT scan booked for August to see if treatment worked on the scarring and to start to investigate the lower lobe.

Besides the shortness of breathe and pain, I am physically doing fairly well.

Mentally it is a battle right now.

Family doctor 👨🏻‍⚕️ appointment ✔️

Annie Moore and I went to my appointment today with my family doctor.

The CT and X-ray 🩻 results are not back yet. Just the preliminary results.

He did a physical exam of my chest and scar and listened to our concerns.

He doesn’t believe it was pneumonia, considering I had no symptoms of pneumonia. However I took all my antibiotics and no change.

Next steps:

1. He is going to write ✍️ a letter to my oncologist with his findings from today. He was also going to call her.

2. A repeat X-Ray 🩻 to see if the “spot” is still there.

3. A referral to a lung specialist. He thinks that a biopsy is warranted.

So now we wait….and wait…..and wait.

Dear Lord, please help this process to go quickly. Give the doctors the knowledge and drive to dig deep into what is going on in my lung 🫁

A recent Ambulance 🚑 ride to the nearest hospital, has us asking more questions.

After blood work, Xray and CT scan we are left with…

1. Potential pneumonia
2. Radiation scarring on my lung
3. A new/reoccurrence of Cancer

Or a combination of the 3.

This face says it all.

Not sure what to think or feel.

I have a high distrust of most doctors. I mean my breast cancer was dismissed and past off as “dense breasts” or “PMS” for many years, which allowed it to grow and spread. 🤨

My radiation oncologist is off until the end of June.

My regular oncologist said today, she doesn’t think it’s a new cancer.

ER doctor didn’t think it was an infection but is treating me for it anyway.

Family doctor appointment on Thursday.

Does anyone else ever think or want a second opinion? Am I just crazy for not trusting?

I have been quite here lately….

I didn’t expect this side of cancer to be heavy, lonely and downright hard.

People say - “You are cancer free you should be so grateful”

Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond thankful to be on the “other” side of cancer, but for me that is when the true mental and emotional reality of cancer hit me.

The “After” is when things get quiet. The appointments are less frequent, the check ins from family and friends are few and far between.

I am learning life doesn’t go back to the way it was. It changes. You realize your new limitations, fears and the changes in your own self.

I hope over time this gets easier, but until then, I will keep fighting the only way I know how and that is with everything I got!

A win to celebrate 🎉

I had 2 X-rays today and I was able to actually walk from my car to the. Ray department without my heart racing, weakness, short of breath or without having to stop to rest….

This is a HUGE win for me and something to celebrate! 🎊

It’s been awhile… 👋

I have never been good at keeping a diary consistently…But I guess everyone is different.

Today has probably been one of the roughest days physically in while. 😭

Side effects from cancer treatment can sometimes feel worse than the cancer itself.

I have developed a rare side effect from my hormone blockers. I have been struggling with it since September and it has progressively gotten worse. 😔

Tenosynovitis of the wrists is probably the most severe pain I have ever felt.

We have exhausted all over the counter options as well as prescriptions. Steroids and prescription pain meds (same I took after my masectomy) are for comfort measures now and it still barely touches the surface of the pain. 💊

Having to get your husband to wash your hair and body and help you dress at 44 years old is humbling and embarrassing.

There has been many tears this weekend.

Hoping and praying that my appointment with the plastic surgeon to get a steroid injected right into the tendons, will be coming soon.

Not sure how long I can keep going like this.
