Standing among the ancient stones of Orkney, Scotland, I couldn’t help but think about all the history, stories, and lives that came before us.

I believe stones hold memories. And our bones do too.

As we approach Samhain, the sacred threshold when the veil between worlds is said to grow thin, we’re invited to remember our ancestors, their stories, their struggles, their wisdom, and their gifts.

But here’s the thing… Our past lives within us, but it doesn’t have to dictate our future.

We can honour what came before without carrying every burden. We can keep the wisdom and release the weight.

🪨 A Wee Ancestor Ritual

Find a stone and hold it in your hands. Think about what you’ve inherited, both the beautiful and the difficult.

Place it in a bowl of water and whisper:

I honour what came before me.
I keep the wisdom.
I release the weight.

Remove your stone, dry it, and breathe into it one ancestral gift you choose to carry forward. Courage, love, resilience, creativity… whatever calls to you.

Place it somewhere special as a reminder of your choice.

✨ You are both a descendant and an ancestor in the making.

I’ll be back in Canada this weekend, just in time for our October Wyld Sister Coven, gathering online Tuesday, October 27, at 6:30 PM Mountain Time.

I’d love for you to join us! Details and registration here: https://www.gillian-white.com/coven25

Our Scotland journey is complete, and while I’m still in London visiting my daughter, I’m reflecting on everything we shared. The laughter, the magick, the conversations… and the moments that will stay with me for a long time. ❤️

One of our stops was the Witch’s Stone in Dornoch, marking the place where Janet Horne was burned in 1727, the last person recorded as being executed for witchcraft in Scotland. The story shared there tells of an older, confused woman and her daughter, who had a disability. Both were accused of witchcraft. Her daughter escaped; Janet did not.

Standing there together, I felt the weight of that. The cruelty of turning someone’s difference into something to fear. Of deciding who belongs, who is acceptable, and who deserves punishment.

This journey was about stepping into our power, whether we call ourselves witches or not. And here we were… a wild group of women, swearing at the patriarchy, laughing loudly, taking care of each other, having fun and showing each other what sisterhood can feel like. Showing up as ourselves, owning our s**t, and making room for one another.

It felt meaningful to stand together in that place and remember Janet, and all those persecuted under accusations of witchcraft. To honour them while holding close the freedom we have to gather, speak and be ourselves.

So grateful for these sisters and everything they brought to this journey. Scotland, you have a piece of my heart. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The end of a epic journey with sisters choosing themselves, showing up as they are, and saying F**K patriarchy! 🖕Wyld, free, and full of joy. So grateful for these ladies, the blessings, the love, and all the wyld fun we shared. Caw caw! 🐦‍⬛😂❤️

Scotland, you have a piece of my heart. Thank you for the magick, the memories, and the friendships coming home with us. 💖🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✨

A huge thank you to the team for helping me create this itinerary, and to our most wonderful driver, guide, and honorary sister, Roddy! 😆🚌 Poor guy… such a good sport putting up with this wyld bunch! ❤️

Day one in Scotland with our Wyld Sisters, and already so much magick! From the beautiful Hermitage and Dunkeld to the history of Culloden and the ancient stones of Clava Cairns, we shared ceremony, laughter and moments of remembering! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

And then the wee extras… hairy coos, a hairy coo kiss, and a wee dram at the centre of Scotland! 🥃 Rainbows, joy, new friendships and a circle that welcomed strangers into the magick with us. My heart is full, and we’re only on day one. So grateful. 🌈💗

I haven’t quite found the words for losing my dear friend Yvonne Yvonne Jobin, here in the centre. She was my teacher, my friend, and family to me. Her teachings helped me feel closer to the ancestral grandmothers whose stories are missing from my own family line.

For years, we shared moon circles, kitchen visits, love and laughter. These sisters held each other through so much, including the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, my friend Amy. That bond doesn’t break.

I love this picture. I’m pretty sure Yvonne was telling a dirty joke. 😂 So many beautiful moments, and this is how I’ll remember her.

I’m grateful I saw her just before she passed. We told each other we loved each other. That means everything.❤️

Her Celebration of Life is tomorrow. I’m in Scotland and can’t be there in person, but I’ll sing the ancestors’ song we sang together for years. My heart is with her family and my sisters.

Love your people. Tell them. Savour those ordinary moments.

Yvonne, I love you. Until we meet again. Hiy Hiy 🪶🤍

Advocating for yourself, or someone you love... is not always easy. We worry about being misunderstood, judged or seen differently. We wonder if we are being too angry, too emotional or simply too much. So we soften our words, turn the other cheek and stay quiet to keep everyone else comfortable.

But there comes a time when staying quiet no longer feels peaceful. It feels like abandoning yourself.

I recently spoke publicly about an injustice my son experienced. I was angry, emotional and vulnerable. I did lose someone because of it, but I gained so much more. I reclaimed my voice, stood in my power and discovered how many people were willing to hear me, see me and stand beside me.

Not everyone has to agree with every word you say to honour your humanity. Some people will comment, some will quietly leave a heart and others may simply pause and listen. All of it matters because being willing to hear one another is where change begins.

Your truth is not too much. You do not need to shrink it, soften it or make it more comfortable for those who are not ready to receive it.
Speak with love. Speak with fire. But above all, speak. ❤️
