Most parents don't start by looking for an assessment.

They start by noticing little things.

Maybe homework ends in tears more often than it should. Maybe school has become a daily struggle. Maybe you've been hearing the same concerns from teachers, or you've simply found yourself wondering why your child seems to be working so much harder than their peers.

Those questions are often what bring families to us.

A psychoeducational assessment isn't about finding something "wrong." It's about gaining a clearer understanding of how your child learns, thinks, and experiences the world so they can receive the support that's right for them.

If you've been wondering whether an assessment could benefit your child, booking a free consultation is a great place to start. Lisa Latimer, our Assessment Coordinator, will answer your questions, explain the process, and help determine whether an assessment with Dr. Elizabeth Benedetto is the right fit for your family.

There are moments in this work that remind us just how fortunate we are to do what we do.

Watching people walk through our doors, trusting us with their stories, celebrating wins together, and supporting one another through hard seasons is something we never take for granted.

This community has shaped NWOCC in more ways than we can count. Every conversation, referral, kind word, and connection has helped us grow into what we are today.

As we settle into this next chapter, we're feeling incredibly grateful for the people who have been part of the journey so far and excited for the people we'll meet along the way.

Thank you for continuing to show up for your neighbours, your families, your friends, and yourselves. It matters more than you know. 🤍🍃

When a child is struggling, parents often find themselves asking the same question:

"How can I best support them?"

That's what makes the work of Dr. Elizabeth Benedetto so meaningful.

As NWOCC's School and Clinical Child Psychologist, Dr. Liz works alongside families to better understand how children learn, think, and experience the world. Her approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and neurodiversity-affirming, always looking beyond a diagnosis to recognize each child's unique strengths, needs, and potential.

Psychoeducational assessments aren't about putting children into boxes. They're about creating clarity, identifying the right supports, and helping children flourish at home, at school, and within their communities.

If you've been wondering whether a psychoeducational assessment could benefit your child, we'd love to help you explore whether it's the right fit.

Every assessment with Dr. Liz begins with a free consultation with Lisa Latimer, our Assessment Coordinator. Lisa will take the time to answer your questions, learn more about your child's unique needs, and guide you through the assessment process before booking with Dr. Liz.

When you're ready, we're here to help you take that first step.

Proof that sometimes the best therapy is a crisp Diet Coke and a quick debrief with your work besties. 🤭🤍

The little moments matter, too.

Welcome to 209 Scott Street. 🍃🤍

After months of planning, unpacking, moving furniture around, and adding all the little touches, our new space finally feels like home.

While the address may be new, what matters most to us hasn't changed. We still want every person who walks through these doors to feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable showing up exactly as they are.

This space has already held so many meaningful conversations, and we're excited for all that's still to come.

Whether you're visiting us for therapy, an assessment, a workshop, or simply stopping by to say hello, we're so happy to welcome you here.

Come on in. We're glad you're here. 🌿

When you're looking for answers for your child, the last thing you want is another barrier standing in the way.

For many families, accessing an ASD assessment has meant long drives, travel plans, or joining waitlists far from home. That's why we're so proud to now offer in-person Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments right here in Fort Frances.

Our hope is simple: to make these services more accessible for children and families in our community and throughout Northwestern Ontario.

Seeking an assessment isn't about labeling your child. It's about gaining understanding, finding support, and having the information you need to help your child thrive.

If you've been wondering whether an ASD assessment might be the right next step for your family, we're here to answer your questions and walk you through the process. 🌿
