Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, ACTive Minds recognizes and honours the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis Peoples across Canada.

We are grateful to live and work on the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples. Our Manitoulin Island location is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek and Odawa peoples, within lands protected by the Manitoulin Island Treaties (45 and 94). Our Sudbury location is situated on the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, within lands protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.
Today, and throughout the year, we encourage ongoing learning, reflection, and participation in local Indigenous events as we celebrate the diverse cultures, knowledge, and resilience of Indigenous communities.

What if you started the next school year feeling energized instead of exhausted?

For many educators and school professionals, summer disappears quickly between planning, preparing, and taking care of everyone else. But what if you dedicated just one day to yourself?

Our Wellness Retreat for School Professionals was created to help you reset before the school year begins. Through guided reflection, practical wellness strategies, meaningful connection, and time in nature, you'll gain tools to support your wellbeing long after the retreat ends.

πŸ’ Practical strategies for managing stress and preventing burnout
πŸ’ A deeper understanding of your own needs, values, and boundaries
πŸ’ Meaningful connections with others who understand the realities of school-based work
πŸ’ A personalized wellness plan for the year ahead

The demands of this profession aren't going away. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish, it's one of the most important things you can do for your students, your colleagues, and yourself.

There is still time to invest in your wellbeing this summer and start the school year from a place of compassion, clarity, and sustainability.

Having supportive friends and family can make a meaningful difference in our mental wellbeing. Feeling heard, supported, and connected matters. But while a strong support system is incredibly valuable, it is not the same as professional mental health support.

Therapists are trained to provide a confidential, unbiased, and evidence-informed space to help you navigate challenges, process emotions, build coping strategies, and work toward your goals. Sometimes, support looks like leaning on loved ones. Sometimes, it looks like reaching out for professional guidance. Often, it can be both.

There is no shame in asking for support, and taking care of your mental health is an important part of taking care of yourself.

June is Men’s Health Month πŸ’™ Mental health is health, and it deserves the same care, attention, and support as our physical wellbeing.

For many men, conversations around mental health can feel difficult due to stigma, expectations, or the pressure to β€œpush through.” But struggling in silence doesn’t have to be the norm. Reaching out for support is not weakness, it’s a sign of strength, self-awareness, and courage.

This Men’s Health Month, let’s continue creating space for honest conversations, reducing stigma, and reminding the men in our lives that support is available and healing is possible.

Whether it’s talking to a trusted friend, connecting with a therapist, or simply checking in with yourself, small steps matter.

At ACTive Minds, we believe mental wellness is an important part of the overall health picture for everyone.
