As a physiotherapist with advanced concussion training, I’m breaking down what happens behind the scenes using the NFL concussion protocol.

Part 1 looks at how team physicians and unaffiliated neurotrauma consultants assess a player for a suspected concussion, including video review and immediate no go signs.

Part 2 will cover the neurological examination.

Watch the rapid, involuntary eye movements at the beginning of the video. This is called **nystagmus** and is an objective finding that helps guide the diagnosis and treatment of BPPV, a common and treatable inner ear cause of positional vertigo.

Her dizziness was initially thought to be related to her dementia. A thorough vestibular assessment told a different story.

After treatment, she was able to lie flat in bed again after spending the past month sleeping upright in a chair.

Even in someone with dementia, dizziness deserves a thorough assessment.

A race against the clock!

After a severe flare of sciatica and a subsequent heart attack, this patient had just 10 days before open-heart surgery. This video was taken on our second visit, with only 6 days remaining. Our goal: reduce pain, restore weight-bearing, and prepare him for the mobility demands of early recovery after surgery. 🏥
