The way you shut down when someone raises their voice.
The way a certain tone sends you somewhere else entirely.
The way you apologize for feelings you cannot explain.
That is not you being too sensitive.
That is your body remembering something your mind tried to move on from.
Your nervous system does not know the danger is over. It is still doing the job it learned when you were seven years old. Or fourteen. Or twenty-three.
The body holds the record. And the body needs more than willpower to let it go.
Understanding this is not an excuse for the behaviour. It is the beginning of the path out of it.
That path is real. I have walked it with women who had been carrying wounds for four decades.
It is possible. And it starts with understanding why your body is doing what it is doing.
