I see comments all the time saying, "Well, if I had Shakira's money, I would look like that too."
And yes, having resources can absolutely make things easier. Access to trainers, nutrition support, recovery, skincare, and other services can help.
But money didn't teach her to dance.
Money didn't create decades of rehearsals, performances, discipline, movement, and consistency.
Those things were built over a lifetime.
And that is the part people often don't see.
I'm 52 years old, and people are often surprised when they find out my age. They ask me what my secret is or joke that I must only eat salads.
First of all... you will never catch me living on salads. Give me those carbs!
My "secret" isn't a secret.
It's consistency.
I've lived a fitness and healthy eating lifestyle since I was a teenager. Not perfectly—but consistently.
I work full-time. I coach women part-time. I have a busy son in travel basketball. Life is busy, just like it is for everyone else.
I train 2–3 times a week. I walk 10,000 steps most days (and yes, sometimes that means walking my neighbourhood at 10 p.m. because it's the only time I can get those last few thousand steps in).
I meal plan on Sundays.
I drink my water.
I track my macros because it helps me stay aware and intentional.
I strength train because I want to build and maintain muscle.
I enjoy a couple of glasses of wine a month.
I enjoy meals that aren't part of my usual plan.
I don't believe in extremes. I believe in balance.
And honestly? I think I look and feel better at 52 than I did at 30.
At 30, I was thinner and toned, but I had very little muscle. I did hours of cardio, lifted tiny weights, and was hungry all the time.
Today, I am stronger. I have more muscle. I have more knowledge. And I have a much healthier relationship with food and fitness.
The truth is...
You don't need to train for hours every day.
You don't need to be in the gym five or six days a week.
You don't need to cut out carbs.
You don't need the newest diet trend or quick fix.
You need simple habits that you can repeat over and over again.
The results you admire in others are usually the result of years of consistency that you didn't see.
Health isn't built in 30 days.
It's built in the ordinary choices you make every single day.
Keep showing up. ❤️
