This was very disheartening to see this family have to go public to SHOW what Ben's abilities are and aren't to prove to the provincial government that Ben absolutely qualifies for AISH.

Programs do evolve and change but common sense needs to prevail! It is unfair to individuals, caregivers and health care providers / doctors after they have the documents processed with certainty that a person NEEDS the care that the government should second guess their own process requirements.

It was not a coincidence that the family received a phone call and reconsideration mere hours before they went to media.

Our tax dollars go toward public services for a reason. YOU may think you will never need AISH but you should also not count your chickens before they are hatched. Life as you know it can change in a blink.

I hope no family needs to do this again. My wish for any individual with needs is that they have advocates as fierce as Ben's in their life!

Some happy faces today! We played kickball and then had a sweet surprise from town councillor Peter Taylor who stopped by with timbits. It was great seeing you today Peter, and we cannot thank you enough for the treat! Great way to end an intense game of kickball!

SCOPE is coming to Hinton!
Did you know SCOPE has been working with amazing people with different abilities and needs since 1979? Did you know they started their first home in 1984? So many of our Hinton people live in Edson as Hinton does not yet have the resources but we're working on that!

Looking forward to sharing our community with some fun residents as they come over to Hinton and explore what we have to offer.

Thank you to The Old Grind for a fantastic night of celebration and music. The atmosphere was perfect.
