Here’s the thing about Aussie puppies: they are far too intelligent for their own good. This is a breed that will make eye contact, understand the assignment, and then decide the assignment is actually to herd every single person in the class into one tidy little group.

Don’t be surprised if one gently rounds you back onto your mat mid-warrior two. They’re not being bossy, they’re being helpful. Aussie-style.

It’s joy. It’s play. It’s your nervous system exhaling with a fluffy herding dog asleep on your shins.

Sunday August 23 @ 4 PM we’re rolling out the mat for Australian Shepherd puppies

Fun thing about Aussies? They’re not actually Australian, they were bred on American ranches herding sheep, so the name is basically the dog world’s biggest plot twist.

They’re wildly smart (like, “solved-the-puzzle-before-you-finished-explaining-it” smart), they come in those dreamy merle coats, and some of them have two different coloured eyes. And when they’re happy? The whole back half wiggles.

Now picture all of that… in puppy form… climbing into your lap mid–downward dog.

This is co-regulation at its finest, little heartbeats, big serotonin, and a room full of people who came for the stretch and stayed for the snuggles.

Six Lab puppies walked into class today. Four counts of theft, one destruction of property, zero remorse.

Here’s what I keep coming back to though: that “wild” energy isn’t misbehaviour. It’s a young nervous system with the gas pedal down and the brakes still under construction. Lab puppies feel everything at full volume, the joy, the zoomies, the love, they just haven’t found the off switch yet.

And honestly? Being in a room with that much unfiltered aliveness does something to your nervous system too. That’s the whole reason Muskoka Puppy Yoga works, the dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins don’t care that the puppy just stole your sock.

Okay. So maybe a calm room was never the goal. Maybe it was co-regulating through the beautiful chaos and laughing the whole way through.
