Imagine not feeling guilty for the way your brain works.

If you've spent years believing you're lazy, inconsistent, "too much," or somehow falling behind, I want you to know there might be another way to understand your experience.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I help adults with ADHD untangle shame, understand their patterns, and build a life that works with their brain instead of against it.

If that sounds like something you've been looking for, give me a follow. And if you're in BC, feel free to send me a DM or book a free consultation through the link in my bio. 🤍

Feeling stuck? Here's 5 ways to work through your system's freeze state:

☎️Call a friend or bring a body double. Connection helps.
🧊Try cold water: splash your face, press a cold compress to the back of your neck, or sip ice water.
🫁Breathe. Exhale with a low “hmmm” while slowly turning your head side to side.
🚶Incorporate movement: Start moving by gently wiggling fingers and toes, then wrists and ankles; if it feels okay, add arm circles or shaking your legs, or take a short walk.
👂Listen to your body. If it’s in freeze, offer it grace and time to do its work.

Let us know what helps you the most when you're in freeze. 🫶

What if it's not laziness?

Sometimes what we label as "lazy" is actually something else.

✨ Overwhelm that makes it hard to know where to start.
✨ Exhaustion after carrying too much for too long.
✨ A nervous system that has shifted into freeze mode after prolonged stress or trauma.

When we assume we're lazy, it's easy to pile on guilt, shame, and self-criticism. But those feelings rarely help us move forward. More often, they leave us feeling even more stuck.

Instead of asking, "Why am I so lazy?" try asking:

🤍 What might my mind or body be trying to tell me?
🤍 What do I need right now?
🤍 What would it look like to respond with compassion instead of criticism?

Sometimes the most helpful shift isn't trying harder—it's understanding what's getting in the way.

Self-compassion doesn't mean giving up. It means responding to yourself with the same kindness and curiosity you would offer someone you care about.

💬 Have you ever mistaken overwhelm or exhaustion for laziness?

📌 Save this post for the days when self-criticism starts getting loud.

If this resonates with you and you'd like support exploring what's underneath feeling "stuck," I'd be happy to walk alongside you. You can book a session through the link in my bio.

I get it.

The checklists. The sticky notes. Scheduling every minute of your day. It all sounds so good.

And maybe it even works… for a few days.

Then life happens, and suddenly you’re forgetting the very systems you worked so hard to build.

It’s frustrating. It’s exhausting. And it can leave you wondering why everyone else’s advice seems to work for them, but not for you.

The good news is: you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

I work with adults with ADHD to better understand how their brains work, uncover their strengths, and build supports that actually fit their life, not someone else’s.

You deserve to exist in a world that works with your brain, not against it.
You deserve peace. Rest. And a little more self-compassion along the way.

If this sounds like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, I’d love to connect. You can learn more or book a free consultation through the link in my bio. 🤍

You might not be an “overthinker.”

You might be someone whose brain adapted to uncertainty by staying one step ahead.

When safety has felt unpredictable, your mind learns to anticipate, analyze, and prepare. That isn’t a character flaw; it’s a protective strategy.

And with safety, support, and compassion, those patterns can begin to soften. 🌿

Summer is often painted as the season of rest, vacations, and feeling refreshed.

But for many people, it doesn’t feel that way.

Maybe your routines have changed. Your schedule is fuller. You started a summer job. The kids are home. You’re juggling travel, family, finances, or expectations to make the most of the season. Maybe the heat or disrupted sleep has left you feeling more irritable or overwhelmed than usual.

If you live with ADHD or the impacts of trauma, these shifts can make it harder to feel grounded. Even positive changes can force your brain and nervous system to do a lot of extra work.

If you’ve caught yourself wondering, “Why am I so exhausted when everyone else seems to be enjoying summer?”, you’re not alone.

Instead of asking what’s wrong with you, try asking:

What has changed, and what might I need right now?

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do isn’t push through. It’s making space for rest, flexibility, and self-compassion.

If you’re struggling to sort out how to support your nervous system this summer, I’m here when you’re ready to explore this. Hit the link in my bio to book a free consultation.☀️🌿

Hot take: ADHD is hard. 😓

But it doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Sleep, nutrition, stress, exercise, life transitions, and relationships all play a role in how ADHD shows up day to day. And, ADHD can make each of those areas more challenging to manage, too.

When we start to understand how these pieces interact, we can stop blaming ourselves and start building strategies that actually work for our brains.
