Su***de in the workplace is a difficult topic that many organizations may not feel prepared to talk about.

It is also a topic that has come up during the mental health literacy training I facilitate.

When a su***de occurs, managers and leaders may find themselves asking: What do I say? How do I support my team? What resources are available? How do we navigate this difficult time?

The reality is, many managers are at a loss about what to do - and that's understandable. These are incredibly difficult situations.

That's why resources like this guide are so valuable. Having practical guidance available can help leaders feel a little more prepared to respond with compassion and care when their workplace is impacted by su***de.

I'm sharing the Centre for Su***de Prevention resource as an important tool for managers, leaders, and organizations. It's one of those resources you hope you never need - but it's important to know where to find it if you do.

The workplace is a major part of the lives of most Canadians, and organizations that support employees following the su***de death of a co-worker can help protect employee mental health and prevent further su***des.

๐ŸŒฟ Hello, August! ๐ŸŒฟ

August is a gentle reminder to slow down, soak in the sunshine, and make space for the moments that restore you. Whether itโ€™s a walk in nature, time with loved ones, quiet mornings with coffee, or an adventure youโ€™ve been looking forward to, your wellbeing deserves to be part of your summer plans.

As we welcome a new month, weโ€™d love to know - whatโ€™s one thing youโ€™re hoping to do before summer comes to an end? โ˜€๏ธ

Share your plans in the comments and inspire others to make wellbeing a priority this August. ๐Ÿ’š

Understanding healthy ways to utilize technology is very important. We are looking forward to this day of learning and making connections.

"The real measure of progress is not how advanced the tool becomes, but whether it improves people's lives in meaningful, ethical, and inclusive ways."

Have you ever taken First Aid trainingโ€ฆ only to find yourself using those skills just days or weeks later?

Many people who take Mental Health First Aid tell me they experience something very similar.

They learn how to start the conversation.
They learn how to truly listen.
They learn how to recognize when someone may be struggling.
And they learn how to encourage someone to connect with the right community resources and support.

Then life happens.
A colleague opens up.
A friend says they're not doing okay.
A family member is struggling.
Someone at work needs someone to listen.

And suddenly, those skills you learned in class aren't just something you knowโ€ฆ
They're skills you can use.
You may never know when someone will need you to be that person who says:
"I'm glad you told me. Let's figure out what comes next."

That's the value of Mental Health First Aid.

You don't take the training because you expect someone to need you tomorrow.
You take it because when that day comes, you'll be better prepared to help.

We have two in-person training offerings in Saskatchewan

๐ŸŒฟ Make Mental Health Training Part of Your Self-Care ๐ŸŒฟ
What if professional development could also be an opportunity to slow down, step away from the usual routine, and invest in yourself?

So here's the invitation:
โœจ Come for the training.
๐ŸŒฟ Stay for the experience.
๐Ÿ’ง Take some time to recharge.

Turn your Mental Health First Aid training into a wellness getaway. Stay overnight, or the weekend - complete thee training, enjoy the mineral spa, explore the community, play a round of golf, connect with others, and give yourself permission to slow down.

During the training, you'll learn practical skills to:
โœ”๏ธ Recognize when someone may be struggling
โœ”๏ธ Feel more confident starting a conversation
โœ”๏ธ Know how to offer appropriate support
โœ”๏ธ Connect someone with resources and professional help

๐ŸŒฟ On International Self Care day we have a question for you; Did you know there is an international organization dedicated to promoting self-care? ๐Ÿ
The International Self-Care Foundation (ISF) is a global, not-for-profit organization that works to champion self-care and promote evidence-based self-care practices as an important part of overall health and wellbeing.
Their approach to self-care goes far beyond bubble baths and face masks. The ISF identifies seven pillars of self-care, including knowledge and health literacy, mental wellbeing, physical activity, healthy eating, health literacy, risk avoidance, good hygiene, and the rationale use of products and services.
Itโ€™s a great reminder that self-care is about the everyday choices we make to support our physical and mental wellbeing.
So, on International Self-Care Day, maybe take a moment to ask yourself: What is one small thing I can do today to take better care of myself? ๐Ÿ’š
