Volunteer Drivers Wanted! 💙

We’re looking for a few wonderful community members who would be willing to volunteer as drivers for our residents at Blue Heron Villa.

Sometimes our residents need a little help getting to appointments, running an errand, or getting where they need to go — and having a reliable ride can make a huge difference. ❤️

There’s no set schedule or regular commitment required. We’d simply love to build a small list of volunteers we can reach out to when a resident needs transportation. You can help when it works for you!

If you have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s licence, and a little time to share, we’d love to hear from you.

🍂 COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS WANTED! 🍂

Blue Heron Villa is looking to connect with some wonderful people in our Lake Country/Okanagan community who would like to share their knowledge, culture or talents with our residents this September. 💙

We’re hoping to find community members, organizations, instructors or volunteers for:

💧 September 18 – World Water Monitoring Day
Someone from our local water, environmental or conservation community to talk about our lakes, wildlife, water or watershed.

🤟 September 23 – International Day of Sign Languages
Someone who can teach our residents and staff some basic sign language in a fun and interactive way.

💃 September 24 – World Bollywood Day
A Bollywood dance instructor or someone familiar with Indian music and culture who could lead a fun, senior-friendly music and movement session. No dance experience required!

🧡 September 30 – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation / Orange Shirt Day
We would be honoured to connect with an Indigenous community member, Elder, Knowledge Keeper, storyteller or cultural educator willing to share teachings, history or stories with our residents and staff in a respectful and educational setting.

Our residents truly enjoy meeting people from our community, learning something new and sharing experiences across generations.

As a small non-profit organization, community partnerships and volunteers make opportunities like these possible — and we are incredibly grateful. 💙

A Heartfelt Thank You from Blue Heron Villa!!

On Tuesday, June 30, our Recreation Coordinator had the pleasure of taking a bus full of Blue Heron Villa residents on a wonderful day out in our community.

We would like to give a special shoutout to the amazing local businesses and organizations that welcomed our group throughout the day:🛍️ Dollarama

Thank you for helping make our outing so enjoyable!

While we were enjoying lunch at Cutwater Brewery, something truly unexpected happened. An anonymous couple quietly paid the bill for our entire group of 12.

To the kind strangers who chose to brighten our day without seeking recognition, please know that your generosity meant more than you could imagine. Your thoughtful act brought smiles to our residents and staff alike and reminded us all that kindness still exists in abundance within our community.

From everyone at Blue Heron Villa, thank you for your incredible generosity. You turned a wonderful outing into an unforgettable one, and we are so grateful to be part of such a caring and compassionate community.

Calling Local Car Enthusiasts & Clubs

Blue Heron Villa is reaching out to our local community.

Many of our residents love classic, antique, and specialty vehicles, but are no longer able to attend local car shows. We would love to bring that experience to them here at Blue Heron Villa. We are looking to connect with anyone who owns a fancy, classic, or specialty vehicle, or who is part of a car club, who may be interested in stopping by to share their vehicles with our residents.

This would be a casual, friendly visit where residents can view the cars, chat with owners, and enjoy a memorable day together.

There is no set date or schedule - we are happy to work around whatever timing works best for you.

At Blue Heron Villa, a 25-unit seniors assisted living facility, the recent scheduled power outages left us scrambling to ensure our residents who rely on oxygen, CPAP machines, and other essential equipment stayed safe and comfortable.

Enter Ivan from Go Beyond Enterprises - he didn't just offer to help, he went above and beyond. Ivan personally brought his own truck to our site to be used as a generator, sparing us the need to rent one and ensuring our residents health and safety were never compromised.

We are profoundly grateful for his generosity, quick thinking, and dedication to our community. Acts like this reming us how incredible our local partners are.

This holiday season, Blue Heron Villa is inviting our community to help bring joy and comfort to the people who call our residence home.

We support 26 residents - seniors and people with disabilities - and we're collecting donations to fill stockings for everyone.

What we're looking for:
-Store bought or handmade gifts welcome, no homemade food, please.
-Similar items for each resident.
-Small, thoughtful gifts are perfect.

Great ideas include cozy socks, lip balm, lotions, puzzles, chocolate, grooming items, or handmade non-food gifts.

Donation deadline: Friday, December 19th
