A BIG thank you to our day home friend for bringing something special to share this week!!

The children had so much fun exploring pattern blocks with alphabet block mats. They discovered how each shape fits together perfectly to create pictures, strengthening their fine motor coordination and spatial awareness along the way.

They absolutely LOVED this hands-on STEM activity!

After exploring the leaves the children collected during our nature walk, they were able to permanently press them onto various leaf-shaped cutouts. The children loved holding their finished art up to the sunlight outside before displaying them on our wall.

The best part was seeing how each child used a different technique—some added lots of leaves while others used just a few, some gently placed them, and others enjoyed crunching them into texture. Each creation was unique and reflected their individual creativity and curiosity.

The last couple weeks, our early morning welcoming set up has been filled with fall-themed sensory play. The children have been adding toys from other centres to extend their exploration, especially using the magnifying glasses to take a closer look. They’ve also enjoyed using trucks to dump the fall and Halloween themed gems onto the mirrors—watching closely as they shine and reflect from different angles.
We love using sensory materials and self-directed exploration every day. It brings such a beautiful sense of calm and joy to the children’s faces as they create their own play. Their pride truly shines through when they get to share with each other what they have discovered.

Baking cookies 🍪
Last week the children got to bake up their own cookies. Measuring out the ingredients, taking turns adding and mixing the ingredients as they followed each step, and of course enjoying their delicious product at the end — which they were so proud of.

The children explored the fall-themed sensory table. The setup included leaves, pumpkins, clear gems, and soft lights, creating an inviting and calming space. The children engaged in hands-on exploration, feeling the different textures, noticing how the gems sparkled in the light, and incorporating the pumpkins into their play. This activity encouraged sensory exploration, imaginative play, and opportunities for sorting, counting, and creating patterns.

Today, the children engaged in a hands-on math activity using gems from the fall sensory bins. Each child was encouraged to create their own unique patterns, practicing skills such as recognition, sequencing, and repetition. The children were also challenged to extend and complete one another’s patterns, strengthening problem-solving and cooperative learning.
