How many vendors do you currently coordinate to keep your facility running smoothly?

For many property and facility managers, managing multiple service providers means juggling schedules, tracking invoices, following up on quality issues, and spending valuable time on administrative tasks.

What if you only had one call to make?

A single point of contact simplifies facility maintenance by providing one accountable partner to coordinate vendors, oversee service delivery, resolve issues, and ensure work is completed to your standards. The result? Less time managing contractors and more time focusing on your property, tenants, and business priorities.

In our latest blog, we explore why having one point of contact can improve communication, increase accountability, and create a more efficient maintenance program.

What's the biggest challenge you face when managing multiple service providers?

That is one of the biggest reasons more Edmonton commercial properties are moving toward a “one point of contact” facility maintenance model.

Summer events bring more people into Edmonton businesses which means higher expectations for building cleanliness.

As Edmonton heads into festival season, Riverhawks games, patio traffic, and K-Days preparation, commercial properties across the city start seeing a noticeable increase in daily activity.

With more visitors, more foot traffic, and more wear on shared spaces, small maintenance issues can become much more visible. Washrooms need closer attention, consumables run out faster, entrances collect more dust and debris, high touch surfaces require more frequent cleaning, and common areas often need support during business hours rather than just after hours.

For property managers and facility teams, summer operations can become challenging quickly if service schedules don’t adapt to increased building activity. At City Wide Edmonton, we help commercial properties stay ahead of those operational demands by coordinating services, managing vendors, and helping facilities maintain a professional appearance throughout the busiest months of the year.

Because during Edmonton’s busiest season, first impressions matter even more.

World Environment Day is a reminder that small actions make a big difference. 🌎

Detailed cleaning services help create healthier indoor environments by removing buildup and contaminants from hard-to-reach areas, while HVAC maintenance improves energy efficiency and supports better indoor air quality. Blinds cleaning and high dusting also help reduce dust, allergens, and airborne pollutants that can circulate throughout a facility contributing to cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable spaces for everyone inside.

June is National Safety Month and facility maintenance plays a bigger role in workplace safety than many people realize.

When people think about safety, they often think about policies, PPE, or training.
But day-to-day facility conditions have a major impact on employee and visitor safety too. From wet floors and worn entry mats to poor lighting, cluttered walkways, damaged flooring and inconsistent cleaning routines- these small issues can quickly become slip, trip, and fall risks if they aren't identified early and addressed consistently.

At City Wide Edmonton, our Facility Solutions Managers and Night Managers are constantly looking for issues that could affect building safety and tenant experience not just cleanliness. They also help ensure concerns are communicated quickly and followed up on properly.

Proactive facility maintenance won’t eliminate every incident, but strong communication, regular inspections, and operational consistency can absolutely help reduce avoidable risks.

Safe facilities don’t happen by accident. They happen through attention to detail, accountability, and consistent oversight.
