Too many of us have been there - wounds inflicted by words and actions (or inaction) by the people we counted on most.
Judgemental attitudes.
Leadership failures.
The place that was supposed to be a refuge turns out to be the source of pain that often goes unspoken.
Worse, we start to doubt our faith and wonder about a God who has such a messed up family.
Healing is not a linear path and looks different for everyone, but it will require vulnerability and honesty. If you need a space with no judgement to work out church hurt, consider reaching out to set up a consult call to see if I would be a good fit. www.frontporchcounselling.com

Having a good fit in the client-therapist relationship plays a critical role in the success of the client in addressing their issues. Research consistently shows that the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client is one of the primary predictors of client progress in counselling.
Look for a therpist who feels like a personal fit as well as a fit of approach and methods. Do you feel comfortable and heard? Are you making progress? Do you feel you can trust your therapist, and is there a mutual feeling of respect?
As a client you have the right to try out counsellors to find one that suits you. Therapists are aware of the importance of this factor and ultimately want you to be successful and thrive in counselling…even if it isn’t with them.

“I went to counselling once, and the counsellor just wanted to teach me to breathe” 😂 I’ve heard this more than once, and while counselling is MUCH more than learning to breathe, in order to move forward from a regulated place your body and brain need to know that it’s safe to do so. There are lots of ways to communicate safety to your nervous system, and this is a great place to start!

Sometimes when we feel trapped with a problem, all we can think about is finding a solution. Sound familiar?

We forget to pause and dig to the root of the problem, asking ourselves why it bothers us so much.

What if we flipped the perspective? Let's embrace curiosity and take a moment to explore our feelings.

As human beings, we have a wide range of emotions for a reason. Feeling sadness, anger, or frustration is natural and can provide valuable insights. By ignoring or pushing away these emotions, we miss out on opportunities for growth.

Instead of only focusing on the problem, let's look into the 'why' behind our emotions. What triggered this response?

When we genuinely understand the root causes of our feelings, we can gain valuable insights that will allow us to heal and move forward.
