How many of these surprised you?

Emotional dysregulation is one of the most misunderstood parts of ADHD. We had a comment from a peds psychologist yesterday who shared that she wished more parents knew how emotional regulation is impacted in kids with adhd and thought a post outlining some less understood pieces would be helpful ❤️

💛 Comment ADHD and we'll send you our ADHD resources.

Or book a free consultation with one of our child therapists who specialize in ADHD and emotional regulation.

A lot of girls with ADHD don't look like what you may typically expect.

They're often the kids who are trying incredibly hard to stay organized, pay attention, keep up socially, and hold it together all day long.

Because they aren't disruptive, their struggles often get explained away as anxiety, sensitivity, perfectionism, or being emotional.

If you've ever wondered whether your daughter might be struggling with ADHD, you're not alone.

Comment ADHD and we'll send you our article on signs parents often miss, or book a free consultation to learn more about ADHD assessments and support for children, teens, and adults.

Imagine being reminded you're doing something wrong dozens of times a day.

"Pay attention."

"How many times do I have to tell you?"

"Why did you forget again?"

Research suggests that by age 10, children with ADHD may hear up to 20,000 more negative comments than their peers.

One of the most important things we can do for kids with ADHD is help them build skills without making them feel broken in the process.

👇 Comment *ADHD*and we'll send you our blog on signs of ADHD in kids.

Anyone else feeling the chaos of June already?

The end of the school year can be a surprisingly emotional time for kids. They're excited for summer, but they're also saying goodbye to routines, teachers, friends, and the predictability they've relied on for months.

Most kids won't tell you they're stressed about that.

They'll show you through emotions, behaviours and maybe if your lucky, words 😂

Save this for the last weeks of school 🏫

What made you feel important as a kid? 👇🏼

It’s not always the big outings or toys that your kids will remember. It’s often the small things.

Asking them about their favourite hockey players, movie characters or letting them tell you about their favourite things. It’s having them cuddle in your lap after a long day. It’s leaving a cute drawing in their lunch box. Or just sharing funny stories from your own childhood.

These are all small moments that can mean a lot to your kids ❤️ Make sure to follow along for more parenting strategies and postpartum support ❤️

You think that type of stuff doesn't happen yet until your 8 yr old is crying about being left out.

Ages 8 to 12 can be such a huge social and emotional shift for kids. Friendships get more complicated, insecurity creeps in, and a lot of parents are left wondering how to help without making things worse😬

Comment SHIFT below if you want to read our blog on the social shift that happens between 8 and 12, what is actually going on underneath it, and what can help.

Or if your child has been struggling emotionally, socially, or with anxiety lately, you can also book a free consult with our therapy team.

A lot of people are asking so “Why didn’t anyone step in?!?" As parents we can't imagine that happening to our child and their friends doing nothing..

Part of it is called the bystander effect. In groups, especially with teens, people often freeze, look to everyone else to react first, or become scared of becoming the next target themselves.

If your teen has been struggling with anxiety, friendships, bullying, anger, confidence, or school stress, you’re not alone.

Comment TEEN and we’ll send you:

and information about booking a free 20-minute therapy consult

Has this ever happened to you? We hear from lots of moms that when they look back at photos from when their kids were little they feel this heart wrenching grief...

They realize how much of that time they spent overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or just trying to survive the day.

There’s grief in realizing how fast it all went when your brain was constantly in “get through today” mode.

Our therapists at Couples to Cradles specialize in maternal mental health and support moms through postpartum anxiety, overwhelm, rage, burnout, and identity changes
