Most people have been taught that pelvic floor issues automatically mean a weak pelvic floor. FALSE!!!

Here’s what many people don’t know; 🤯 weak and tight often go hand in hand.🤝

When a muscle stays contracted all day, it loses its ability to contract well when you actually need it. Think of it like making a fist and holding it tight for hours—eventually it becomes tired, stiff, and less effective.

Your pelvic floor is designed to do more than squeeze. It should:
✨ Contract.
✨ Relax.
✨ Lengthen.
✨ Respond to movement and pressure.

When that coordination is lost, you may experience symptoms like:
• Urinary leaking
• Pelvic pain or pressure
• Pain with intimacy
• Constipation
• Low back, hip, or tailbone discomfort
• A feeling of constant tension (in your butt or groin).

This is why more Kegels aren’t always the answer.

Bowen Therapy takes a different approach by helping calm the nervous system, reduce protective muscle guarding, and restore more balanced movement throughout the pelvis and surrounding fascia. As tension decreases and your body regains better coordination, the pelvic floor is often able to function more efficiently—not because it was forced to work harder, but because it was finally able to work the way it was designed to.

Every body is different, which is why an assessment matters. The goal isn’t simply a stronger pelvic floor but rather it’s a pelvic floor that moves, responds, and supports you well.

TMJ isn’t always as straightforward as it seems.

Your dentist plays an essential role in evaluating your teeth, bite, jaw joint, and overall oral health. If there’s damage to the joint, tooth wear and tear, or need for a mouth guard, they are the right person to assess those concerns.

However, TMJ symptoms don’t always come from the joint itself as we’ve learned from my past posts or treatments. The muscles that move your jaw are connected to your neck, shoulders, posture, diaphragm, fascia, and your entire nervous system. That my friends is why two people can have the same symptoms but need completely different treatments. This is where I shine and my comprehensive assessment becomes so, so valuable to you as a patient.

My treatment looks beyond the jaw to assess whole-body factors that may be influencing or contributing to how your jaw is functioning…or not functioning. I want to say that this DOES NOT replace dental care but rather to complement it by identifying further contributing factors that may be overlooked when only the joint is considered.

In all my years of treating patients I have found that the best outcomes happen when we don’t focus on the question of where does it hurt but rather set our focus on why is your body compensating this way?

If your TMJ symptoms are troublesome or keep returning it may be time to come see me. Let’s look at the WHOLE picture.

Most people assume TMJ only means jaw pain.

But in reality, TMJ dysfunction can show up in ways you might never expect—persistent headaches, ear fullness or ringing, neck tension, facial pain, clicking or popping, difficulty opening your mouth, or even dizziness.

Because the jaw doesn’t work in isolation. It’s connected to your neck, shoulders, posture, breathing, fascia, and nervous system. That’s why simply treating the area where it hurts isn’t always enough.

A comprehensive TMJ assessment looks at the bigger picture. It helps identify the underlying patterns contributing to your symptoms so treatment can be tailored to what *your* body needs—not just where the pain is showing up.

If you’re struggling with jaw pain, headaches, clenching, clicking, facial tension, or symptoms that just won’t seem to resolve, I offer a comprehensive assessment and treatment through my **Advanced TMJ & Nervous System Corrections** appointment.

Using a combination of hands-on assessment, bodywork, and nervous system-focused techniques, the goal is to improve how your jaw functions while addressing the whole-body patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms.

If you’ve been treating the symptoms without lasting relief, it may be time to look beyond the jaw.

📲 Book your **Advanced TMJ & Nervous System Corrections** appointment and let’s uncover what’s really driving your symptoms.

🛑✋ Stop treating TMJ like it’s just a jaw issue.

Your jaw didn’t just decide one day to become tense. It’s responding to something.

Maybe it’s:
• a stressed, overloaded nervous system
• tension through your neck and shoulders
• poor posture from hours at a desk or on your phone
• clenching or grinding while you sleep
• breathing patterns that keep muscles working overtime
• restrictions in the fascia that affect how your body moves

The jaw is one piece of a much bigger picture 🧩. That’s why I don’t just focus on the muscles around your jaw. I look at how your entire body is functioning because lasting relief often comes from addressing the ROOT cause not the symptoms.

If you’ve tried mouth guards, jaw massage, or stretches but your symptoms keep coming back, it may be time to take a different approach. Your body is connected and your treatment should be too.

Most people find Bowen Therapy because something hurts in their body, and usually that ache is back pain.

But here’s what I wish the public knew… Bowen is so much more than a technique for aches and pains. The body doesn’t work in isolated pieces. Your muscles, fascia, nervous system, lymphatic system, and hormones are constantly communicating and influencing each other, 24/7.

By using gentle, precise movements, Bowen Therapy works with the body’s own communication systems to help support relaxation, regulation, and balance.

Many people seek Bowen support for things like:
✨ Tension and postural patterns
✨ Stress and nervous system overload
✨ Lymphatic flow and fluid balance
✨ Recovery and relaxation
✨ Supporting the body through seasons of change, including fertility and hormonal transitions

Your body is incredibly intelligent. Bowen doesn’t force change — it simply creates an opportunity for the body to respond.

What’s the difference? 🤔👀

Lymphatic Massage says:
“I’ll help move the fluid.”

Bowen Lymphatic Therapy says:
“I’ll give your body the input it needs so it can move the fluid itself.”

How??

Lymphatic Massage
• Continuous light massage strokes
• Primarily focuses on moving lymph fluid
• Hands remain in contact throughout treatment

Bowen Lymphatic Therapy
• Precise Bowen moves with intentional pauses
• Supports the nervous system and lymphatic system
• Gives the body time to respond between movements
• Encourages the body to do the work—not the practitioner

Ultimately….
Different techniques. Different approach. Same goal of supporting your body’s natural healing.

Just because your incision has healed doesn’t always mean the tissues underneath have recovered their normal movement.

A C-section affects multiple layers of the body, and as they heal, scar tissue forms. Sometimes those tissues become restricted, which can contribute to tightness, pulling, discomfort, numbness, or changes in how your core and pelvis function.

The good news? Scar tissue is often responsive to treatment—even years later. By combining Massage Therapy, Bowen Therapy, Bowen Lymphatics, Low-Level Laser Therapy, and PhysioKey, I can help improve tissue mobility, support healing, calm the nervous system, and encourage your body to move more comfortably again.

Every body and every birth story is different, which is why every treatment is too. Your scar is part of your story—but it doesn’t have to keep writing it.
