Independent living means exactly that — living independently.

Valley Ridge Villas is being designed for adults 55+ who want the freedom of their own home, with a few things made a little easier.

You’ll have your own private suite and your own space. Come and go as you please. Spend your day exactly how you want (we recommend focusing on your bucket list).

The difference? You won’t have to worry about many of the responsibilities that come with maintaining a house.

Instead, you’ll have access to shared spaces, an indoor walking loop, recreation and wellness areas, a daily meal program and opportunities to connect with neighbours, all while staying close to the community you already call home.

It’s not about giving up your independence. It’s about making more room for it.

Where we live is about so much more than the four walls around us. It’s about the people, places and routines that make a community feel like home.

It’s being close enough for the grandkids to stop by, having adult children nearby when you need an extra hand. Meeting friends for coffee, staying involved in your favourite social groups, volunteering for the organizations you care about and continuing to be part of the community you’ve helped build.

As our housing needs change, we shouldn’t have to leave those connections behind.

Valley Ridge Villas is being developed to give adults 55+ another option to stay right here in the Minnedosa region, close to family, friendships, community and the life they know.

Every donation to Valley Ridge Villas represents more than financial support. It represents a belief that people should have the opportunity to stay in the region they call home as their housing needs change.

We’re grateful to the individuals, families, businesses and organizations who see the long-term value of this project and are helping move it forward.

More people in our region are reaching a stage of life where their current home may no longer fit their needs, but that doesn’t mean they want to leave the community they know and love.

Without more housing options for older adults, people may be faced with a difficult choice: stay in a home that has become too much to maintain or move away from their community, family and support network.

Valley Ridge Villas is being developed to provide another option.

Designed for adults 55+, Valley Ridge will offer independent living with comfortable suites, shared amenities, a daily meal program and opportunities to stay active and connected, right here in the Minnedosa region.

And when older adults have more options to right-size locally, it can also help free up existing homes for families and the next generation.

This isn’t just about building one housing project. It’s about planning for the future of our entire region.

Who is behind Valley Ridge Villas?

Valley Life Housing Group (VLHG) is a not-for-profit organization working to create long-term housing solutions for Minnedosa and the surrounding region.

This is not a private developer’s project. It is a regional, community-led initiative supported through collaboration between six municipalities:

• Town of Minnedosa
• Municipality of Harrison Park
• R.M. of Minto-Odanah
• Rural Municipality of Oakview
• Yellowhead Municipality
• Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam-Erickson

Together, these communities recognized a shared need: more housing options that allow older adults to remain independent, connected and close to the people and places they know.

Valley Ridge Villas is the result of years of regional cooperation, community consultation and careful planning. By working together, we are creating more than a place to live, we are investing in the long-term strength and sustainability of our entire region.

A strong future needs a strong foundation.

Once Valley Ridge Villas is built, resident rent will help support the ongoing operation of the building. But rent alone cannot provide the upfront funding needed to begin construction.

Community fundraising is an essential part of the financial plan. Every donation strengthens the project, supports our ability to secure financing and moves us closer to breaking ground.

This is our opportunity to create the housing our region needs—helping older adults remain independent, connected and close to the people and communities they know.
