I spent a long time treating hyperpigmentation like it was only a surface problem.
I thought I needed stronger products, more exfoliation and faster results. What I actually needed was a better understanding of what my skin was responding to.
These five lessons changed the way I approached my skin:
Barrier health comes first.
The root cause matters.
Sunscreen is part of treatment.
Exfoliating and brightening actives do different jobs.
And constantly checking for progress can make the process feel harder than it is.
Clearer skin did not come from doing the most. It came from being more intentional, more consistent and less reactive.
