We often see the substance…the coping, the patterns.
But what we *don’t* always see is what’s underneath.

Addiction isn’t just about the substance....
It’s about the trauma that was never processed.
The grief that had no space to be felt.
The family stress that never let up.
The mental health struggles that went untreated.
The isolation that made everything feel heavier and harder.

Substances becomes the *solution*—not the root problem.

As a therapist, my work isn’t simply about helping someone learn how to change their substance use.
It’s about helping them feel safe enough to understand *why* they needed it in the first place.

Together, we gently work through:

Control can feel like safety when you’re living with anxiety or the aftermath of past trauma 🤍

You plan, organize, anticipate, and try to stay one step ahead of everything—because unpredictability doesn’t just feel uncomfortable… it feels unsafe 😣

But here’s the hard truth: control is often an illusion 🫥

Therapy isn’t just for the moments when everything is falling apart—it’s also for the quiet build-up before that point. The stress that’s been sitting in your chest for months. The anxiety that’s become your “normal.” The drinking that’s slowly turned from occasional relief into something you’re starting to question.

🚨Waiting until things get worse doesn’t make you more deserving of help. It just makes things harder to untangle later.

Small details—like a warm tone of voice, steady eye contact, and gentle pacing—go a long way in building trust.

💡Privacy is also essential. I ensure sessions are secure and confidential, giving you the freedom to open up without fear. Clear boundaries, consistency, and a sense of structure help recreate the reliability of an in-person space.

But here’s something important to understand 👇

Most people aren’t actually comfortable staying broken.

They’re overwhelmed by the idea of change. 🌊

Healing asks you to:

✨ Feel what you’ve been avoiding
✨ Loosen patterns that once protected you
✨ Step into the unknown
✨ Trust yourself in new ways

And even if those patterns are painful… they’re predictable.

You know how to survive there.
You know how to manage there.
You know you can handle it.

Change can feel uncertain. Exposed. Vulnerable. 😔

So sometimes it’s not that you want to stay the same,
it’s that staying the same feels safer than risking the discomfort of growth.

Healing isn’t about forcing transformation. 🌿
