🌿 Self-Care Sunday 🌿

Sunday reminder:
Unclench your jaw.
Drop your shoulders.
Take a deep breath.
And maybe put the phone down for a little while. (Yes, I see the irony of posting this on Facebook. 😆)
Self-care doesn’t always need to be a bubble bath, a spa day, or something else we have to squeeze onto the to-do list.
Sometimes it’s sitting with your coffee a little longer. ☕
Reading a few chapters of a good book. 📖
Stepping outside and enjoying the fresh air.
Spending time with people, or pets, you love. ❀
Or simply deciding that everything does not need to get done today.
You are allowed to slow down.
Let grace set the pace today.
And if your mind starts reminding you of everything you should be doing, gently remind it that even God rested. 😊
Today, give yourself a little room to breathe.
💬 What does self-care look like for you this Sunday?

đŸŽ¶ Tunes for Tuesday đŸŽ¶

Today’s song is “Brand New” by Ben Rector.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes nothing around you has changed
but you have?

Maybe you finally let go of something you’ve been carrying.
Maybe you chose gratitude instead of worry.
Maybe you took one small step toward a healthier habit.
Maybe you simply decided that yesterday doesn’t get to define today.

Life doesn’t always hand us a brand-new beginning, but we can choose a brand-new perspective.

Science tells us our brains are constantly adapting. Every encouraging thought, every healthy habit, every intentional choice helps strengthen new pathways over time. Change doesn’t usually happen all at once. It grows through repeated moments of choosing hope over defeat.

That reminds me of 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

No matter what yesterday looked like, today is another opportunity to begin again.

So turn up the music, sing a little louder than usual, and let today be the day you choose hope, joy, and a fresh perspective.

đŸŽ” Question for you: If today could feel “brand new,” what’s one thing you’d like to leave behind
and one thing you’d like to embrace?

đŸŽ¶ Tunes for Tuesday đŸŽ¶

This week’s song has been “Heart of God” by Zach Williams, and one line has been sticking with me:

“There’s no shame in looking like a fool when I give You what I can’t keep to take a hold of You.”

I think many of us spend far too much energy believing we have to have everything figured out before we ask for help, from God or from anyone else.

The older I get, the more I’m learning that strength isn’t pretending everything is okay. Sometimes strength looks like admitting you’re tired, asking for support, and trusting that you don’t have to carry every burden alone.

One of my favourite things about Jesus is that people who felt overlooked, imperfect, or like they didn’t measure up were often the very people He welcomed.

Maybe that’s something we all need to remember this week.

💙 What’s a song that’s been encouraging you this week?

đŸ€” Things That Make You Say
 Hmmm Thursday

“We do not quit playing because we grow old; we grow old because we quit playing.”

Hmmm

When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt?

Or danced in your kitchen while supper was cooking?

Or jumped in puddles with your grandkids, tried a new hobby, played cards with friends, or got a little competitive over a board game?

Somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that being an adult meant being serious all the time.

But play isn’t childish.

It’s healthy.

Play lowers stress, encourages creativity, strengthens relationships, and reminds our brains that life isn’t just about responsibilities and to-do lists. It helps us stay curious, adaptable, and engaged with the world around us.

Maybe growing older isn’t what steals our joy.

Maybe it’s believing we’ve outgrown it.

So here’s your challenge for today:

Do one thing your younger self would have loved.

Throw a frisbee.
Color a picture.
Build a snowman.
Fly a kite.
Sing loudly in the car.
Laugh until you snort.

Your body may not move exactly like it did years ago

but your sense of wonder doesn’t have to retire.

💭 What is one playful thing you still love doing or would love to start doing again?

How often do you say things to yourself that you’d never dream of saying to your best friend?“I’ll never change.”“I’m no...

How often do you say things to yourself that you’d never dream of saying to your best friend?

“I’ll never change.”
“I’m not good enough.”
“I always mess everything up.”

Sound familiar?

The truth is, the conversation happening in our minds matters. Our brains are always listening, and the words we repeat can either keep us stuck or help us grow.

What if, instead of speaking to yourself with criticism, you chose truth
 and grace?

This week’s blog explores how replacing harsh self-talk with compassionate, truthful thinking can change not only your mindset, but the direction you’re heading.

💙 Because if you’d offer kindness to someone you love

maybe it’s time to offer some to yourself too.

đŸ€” Things That Make You Go Hmmm
 Thursday

(Yes
I’m borrowing that from the great Arsenio Hall. 😄)

Here’s today’s “Hmmm
”

Why is it that we can remember every embarrassing thing we said in 1997

but walk into the kitchen and immediately forget why we went there? đŸ€š

Maybe our brains aren’t trying to frustrate us.

Maybe they’re simply designed to hang onto emotionally charged moments more tightly than everyday information. The good news? The brain can also learn to notice the good things with practice.

So here’s today’s challenge:

Instead of replaying that awkward conversation from twenty years ago, take a minute to remember something that made you smile this week.

A good cup of coffee.
A kind word.
A phone call.
A beautiful sunset.
A belly laugh.

Let’s give our brains something better to file away. 😊

Now your turn

💬 What’s something that made you stop and say, “Hmmm
” this week?

🌿 Wellness Wednesday 🌿

When we think about wellness, we often picture the obvious things

đŸ„— Healthy food.
đŸš¶â€â™€ïž Exercise.
💧 Drinking enough water.

And yes, those matter.

But one of the healthiest things you can do is protect your peace.

Not every disagreement deserves your energy.
Not every opinion needs your response.
Not every problem belongs on your shoulders.

Stress isn’t just something we feel emotionally. Over time, it can affect our sleep, digestion, muscles, immune system, and even how clearly we think.

Sometimes the healthiest decision isn’t adding something to your to-do list

It’s giving yourself permission to let something go.

Take a few deep breaths.
Step outside for a few minutes.
Call a friend.
Read a few pages of a good book.
Spend some quiet time with God.

Your body and your mind were never designed to carry every burden alone.

What’s one thing you can let go of today?

💙 Wishing you a peaceful and healthy Wellness Wednesday.

đŸŽ¶ Tunes for Tuesday đŸŽ¶

“Up + Up” by Colton Dixon

Have you ever noticed that life isn’t really about never falling?

It’s about refusing to stay there.

We all have days when we feel discouraged. We miss a goal, make a mistake, lose confidence, or wonder if we’re making any progress at all. Those moments can convince us that we’ve failed.

But what if a setback isn’t the end of the story?

Every time we choose to get back up, we’re strengthening resilience. Every small step forward reminds our brain that hope is still an option. Progress isn’t measured by perfection, it’s measured by persistence.

One of my favourite messages in Up + Up is that we can rise again, no matter how many times we’ve stumbled. God walks beside us, strengthening us when our own strength runs out.

So if today feels a little heavy, don’t focus on how many times you’ve fallen.

Focus on the fact that you’re still here.

Still learning.
Still growing.
Still becoming the person God created you to be.

And sometimes
getting back up is the biggest victory of all. 💙

The Junk Drawer in our Mind

We all have one

That one kitchen junk drawer.

You know the one.

It’s filled with old batteries, random keys, rubber bands, takeout menus from restaurants that don’t even exist anymore
and somehow, it still won’t close.

So we push everything down, force it shut, and tell ourselves,

“I’ll deal with it later.”

Funny enough
many of us do the exact same thing with our thoughts and emotions.

The problem is, unlike a kitchen drawer, our minds and bodies are connected.

Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do isn’t push harder

It’s gently begin sorting through what’s inside.

💙 My newest blog explores what our “mental junk drawer” can teach us about stress, healing, and why small steps really do matter.

Question for you

If your mind had a junk drawer, what would be the first thing you’d finally decide to take out today?

Mindset Monday: Learning to Listen

I used to think hearing from God meant waiting for some huge, unmistakable sign.

But more often than not, He speaks in the quiet.

If I’m being honest, quiet isn’t my favourite place to be. My “monkey brain” can turn a few moments of silence into a full-blown circus! 😆 My mind jumps from tomorrow’s to-do list, to something I said five years ago, to wondering what’s for dinner.

Maybe you can relate.

Yet, in 1 Kings 19, Elijah didn’t hear God in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. He heard Him in a gentle whisper.

That reminds me that sometimes the problem isn’t that God isn’t speaking
it’s that my mind is so busy that I can’t hear Him.

We live in a world that constantly competes for our attention. Notifications, conversations, television, social media, and endless distractions fill every quiet moment. But perhaps those moments of stillness aren’t empty at all. Perhaps they’re invitations.

This week, I’m challenging myself to spend just a few quiet minutes each day with no agenda other than listening. No pressure to have all the answers. Just making space.

Who knows? The whisper I’ve been waiting for may have been there all along.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 ❀
