This past week, working with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Men's Volleyball Team as their Mental Performance Consultant.
The focus this week was on building a foundation. Before stepping into camp, we completed a needs assessment to get a better understanding of the athletes, the program, and where mental performance could best support the team. From there, conversations with coaches, observations on the court, and discussions with the athletes helped shape our first sessions together.
One thing that stood out to me was how important it is to make mental performance relatable. Rather than talking about skills in isolation, we connected them to challenges the athletes were already working through. We explored topics like what communication actually is, how attention becomes engagement, and how to reset not only as an individual but as a group.
I am looking forward to continuing to work and support with this team throughout the season.
