Spoonie Authors Network A volunteer community initiative for writers who are disabled and/or who manage chronic conditions. Cait here. Anyway, to my delight it got published. Cheers!

I wrote my first novel (Life in the 'Cosm) as an exercise to take my mind off chronic neuropathy. I even included a character in the story who deals with a disability. When my cane and I went to the literary conference where my novel first sold, I noticed so many other writers with canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. I felt so encouraged by their presence and enthusiasm for their craft. I thought, "This is cool. There are a lot of us out here." So, in November 2016, I decided to create the Spoonie Author Network, in hopes of finding other writers who would like to connect and their their journeys. "We write words and manage spoons." As of April 2017, I have nine writers as contributors. I'm gobsmacked. Their stories touch me deeply as I edit them, and I am thrilled that many want to come back again as guest bloggers. If you'd like to be a guest blogger on the SpAN, please message me or write me at [email protected].

It was with great sadness that we received the news that artist and wordsmith April Laramey passed away this week.

Here is one of her contributing articles on th Spoonie Author Website. (The author bio at the end of the article was also written by April, and it hits hard right now.)

Thank you for your art, April. You will be missed.

I didn’t always paint. In fact, I came to it in my late thirties. As a child and young adult I avoided art, mostly because I felt I was not talented enough to pull it off. Add to that problems with…

It’s me, Cait. I decided to get real about my burnout and why there haven’t been new articles by contributing authors for a while.

One of my greatest joys over the last ten years is having founded the Spoonie Authors Network in 2016. I did it so I could connect with other writers and creatives who were disabled and/or who mana…

On this last day of , our featured author is... well... it’s me, Cait Gordon!

I never expected Season One: Iris and the Crew Tear Through Space to become what it did. I’m very blessed. (And there WILL be a Season Two!)
