🩺✨What better way to spend a Friday afternoon than participating in a hands-on simulation training exercise led by our very own PRH Emergency Department physicians! 🩺✨

Residents and medical students had the opportunity to enhance their clinical skills through a variety of realistic, simulation-based scenarios facilitated at the Algonquin College Simulation Labs. These valuable learning experiences help build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and prepare future healthcare professionals for real-world patient care situations.

A huge thank you to our PRH ED physicians for sharing their expertise and commitment to medical education. 💙

Join us in Congratulating Dr. Nimbe on his Guardian Angel nomination!😇

"I would like to nominate Dr. Nimbe for recognition through the Guardian Angel Program. Throughout my labour, delivery, and postpartum recovery, these healthcare professionals provided exceptional clinical care complemented by genuine compassion, reassurance, and steadfast support during a deeply vulnerable and emotional time. Their professionalism and expertise helped me feel safe and confident, while their kindness and patience left a lasting impression on my family and myself. Dr. Nimbe helped keep me focused during delivery and ensured my son was delivered safely, combining exceptional obstetrical expertise with a reassuring presence during an emotionally charged and nerve wracking time. Each of these healthcare professionals consistently exceeded expectations. They took the time to listen, answer questions, provide encouragement, and advocate for my needs. Their emotional support was every bit as meaningful as the medical care they delivered, helping me navigate challenges and celebrate the arrival of my son."

🌟Congratulations to Our Graduating PFMTU Family Medicine Residents!🌟

As another academic year comes to a close, it is time to celebrate and bid a fond farewell to our incredible cohort of family medicine residents. They have worked tirelessly, provided exceptional care to our community, and are now ready to embark on the next exciting chapters of their medical careers.

Here is a look at where their journeys are taking them next:

Heading into Fellowships & Enhanced Skills:
🔹Dr. Jaden Calvert is heading to Ottawa to pursue a +3 program in Public Health. We know he will do amazing things shaping healthcare on a broader scale!
🔹Dr. Claire Neilson is traveling west to British Columbia to complete a +1 program in Emergency Medicine. Wishing you all the best on the coast, Claire!

Rooted in the Community & Local Practice:
🔹Dr. Elisa Christinck will be establishing her family practice at Rainbow Valley in Killaloe. In addition to her clinic, Elisa hopes to jump into some hospitalist work in Barry’s Bay.
🔹Dr. Brent Deveau is returning full-time to Garrison Petawawa, though he also plans to stay busy doing some local locuming whenever he has the availability.

Joining the PFMTU Family:
🔹Dr. Emma Sypes will be spending her summer locuming nearby before officially joining the PFMTU team this Fall.
🔹Dr. Sadie Maidens is currently on maternity leave. Upon her return, she will complete her final block of training and will then officially join the PFMTU team.

Supporting Primary Care:
🔹Dr. John Bonnell will be stepping into the region to provide vital support, locuming for primary care.

A Huge Thank You! 🙌

To all of our graduates: thank you for your dedication, your hard work, and the compassion you’ve shown to the patients. You will always have a home here at the Pembroke Family Medicine Teaching Unit. We are incredibly proud of you and wish you the absolute best in your future practices!

🌄 Trails, teamwork, and true Ottawa Valley spirit 🌄

Week 2 of Community Week took our Queen’s University medical students on an ATV adventure from Laurentian Valley through Pembroke to Petawawa and back; a perfect way to experience the beauty of the Ottawa Valley.

This experience wouldn’t be possible without the incredible collaboration of our municipal partners who work together to highlight the best our communities have to offer 👏

A heartfelt thank you as well to the dedicated volunteers, including the Renfrew County ATV Club and the Laurentian Valley 50+ Fit and Feisty group 💪 Your enthusiasm, knowledge, and warm welcome brought the evening to life and made it truly memorable for our learners.

There’s something special about seeing the Ottawa Valley through fresh eyes, where natural beauty, strong community connections, and a spirit of adventure come together 💙

This is what Community Week is all about: showing our future physicians not just where they can work, but where they can belong.
