Happy BC Day from all of us at Southwood Regency! 🇨🇦💙

Today we celebrate the beauty of British Columbia, our wonderful Okanagan community, and the people who make it such a special place to call home.

As we enjoy the long weekend, we also want to remind everyone to take care of themselves and be mindful of the current air quality conditions due to the unfortunate wildfires affecting the Okanagan. If possible, stay indoors when smoke levels are high, keep windows closed, stay hydrated, and check in on friends, neighbours, and loved ones who may be more sensitive to smoke.

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the wildfires, including the firefighters, emergency crews, and communities working through these challenging conditions.

Stay safe, stay cool, and have a peaceful BC Day. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Open House yesterday! 🥂✨

We had such a wonderful time welcoming our community, enjoying a full Aqua Fit class, sipping on delicious mimosas, and indulging in some of our chef’s amazing culinary treats. 🏊‍♀️🍽️🍾

With hot temperatures in the forecast, it’s important to take extra care of yourself and your loved ones. 🧴🕶️

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty@
🏠 Stay indoors or in the shade during the hottest parts of the day
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-coloured clothing and a hat when heading outside
🚫☀️ Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest hours
🧴 Use sunscreen and protect your skin
👋 Check in on friends, neighbours, and loved ones to make sure everyone is staying safe and cool

Please remember that older adults can be more vulnerable to heat, so let’s all look out for one another. 💙

Our residents are keeping active, social, and entertained with a great lineup of activities today:

🪑 Chair Exercises to start the morning off strong.
🧩 Mind Match & Mingle – a fun Canadian-themed matching game where residents meet someone new, work together, and enjoy plenty of laughs.
♠️ Bridge this afternoon for our card enthusiasts.
🎤🏖️ And we’re wrapping up the day with an Elvis Tribute Pool Party featuring Bruce McAuliffe! Get ready for classic hits, summer fun, and a whole lot of dancing and singing along!

⚠️ Due to today’s hot weather, Cycling Without Age has been postponed to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
