🪷Mindful Monday: The Power of Letting Go 🕊️

Sometimes letting go isn't about not caring.
It's about caring without carrying 🎒 what was never yours to control.
We all have moments when our minds 🧠become tangled in things we cannot change.

Someone's words.🗣️
Someone else's behaviour. 🎭
A situation that didn't go the way we hoped.
Something that happened in the past. ⬅️
Worry about what might happen next. ➡️🔜
And sometimes, our emotions can feel just as overwhelming.😫
Anger. Anxiety. Disappointment. Sadness. Frustration. 💥

Mindfulness 🪷doesn't ask us to push those feelings away or pretend everything is okay.
It asks us to notice them. Feel them. Make space for them, without allowing them to take over.

What is within your control?
A helpful mindfulness practice is thinking about your Circle of Control.⭕️
You may not be able to control:
What other people say or do
How someone feels about you
What has already happened
Other people's choices
The outcome of every situation
Everything that happens around you
But you can influence how you respond. 🧐

You can pause before reacting.🛑
You can choose your words.
You can step away. 🚶‍♀️
You can set a boundary.
You can breathe.🧘
You can decide where you place your energy.
And sometimes, the most powerful response is simply:
“This is happening. I don't have to control it. I can choose how I move through it.”

🕊️ Letting go doesn't mean letting everything go unanswered.
It doesn't mean tolerating unhealthy behaviour, ignoring your needs, or giving up your boundaries.
Sometimes letting go means releasing the mental struggle with something you cannot change while still taking action where you can.
You can feel angry without becoming anger.
You can feel anxious without allowing anxiety to make every decision.
You can feel hurt without carrying the hurt all day.
You can acknowledge an emotion and gently remind yourself:
“I see you. I feel you. But you don't have to drive.”

🌸 A mindful letting-go practice
When you notice yourself becoming overwhelmed, pause and ask:

1. What am I feeling?
Name the emotion without judging it.
2. What am I trying to control?
Is it actually within your control?
3. What can I control right now?
Perhaps your breathing, your response, your next step, or a boundary you need to set.
4. What can I release for today?
You don't have to solve everything right now.
Take a slow breath in.
And as you exhale, imagine putting down something you've been carrying.
Not because it doesn't matter.
But because you matter too.

🌿 This Monday, practice letting go of what you cannot control — and gently returning your energy to what you can.
Sometimes peace doesn't come from changing the situation.
Sometimes it comes from changing our relationship with it.

🌿 Mindful Monday: EDUCATORS You Don't Have to Carry It All

As another 🏫 school year begins, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the EAs, teachers 👩‍🏫, support staff, administrators and everyone working in education 📚
I understand. I’ve worked in education too.
I know that heading back isn't always filled with excitement 🤗 and fresh-start energy ⚡️
There are staffing cuts 🎬, changes, increased demands, challenging student behaviours, administrative pressures 😥, changing expectations, and often a level of emotional exhaustion 🥵 that can begin before the school year even gets underway.
So, as you prepare for another year, here are a few gentle reminders 🧠:

🌿 You don't have to carry it all.
You cannot control every behaviour, administrative decision, staffing change, policy or difficult interaction.
Focus on what is within YOUR control, and give yourself permission to let go of what isn't.

🌿 Regulate before you react.
When you feel yourself becoming overwhelmed, frustrated or activated, try this simple reset:
🛑 STOP→ 🧘‍♀️ BREATHE→ NOTICE 🤔→ CHOOSE 👍
STOP: Pause before responding.
BREATHE: Take 3 slow, intentional breaths.
NOTICE: What am I feeling? What is happening in my body?
CHOOSE: What response will serve me best right now?
Even 30 seconds can create a little space between the stressor and your response.

🌿 Build tiny moments of recovery into your day.
Mindfulness doesn't have to mean sitting for 20 minutes.
Try:
Taking three 3️⃣ intentional breaths 😮‍💨between classes.
Feeling your 👣 feet on the floor during a stressful conversation.
Stepping outside 🌳 for two minutes when you can.
Unclenching your jaw😲 and dropping your shoulders
Taking your lunch break🍴🥗 without working, even if only for a few minutes.
Pausing before you walk through the 🚪 door at the end of the day.
Small moments of regulation throughout the day can make a difference.

🌿 And remember...
A difficult day doesn't mean you're not doing a good job.
Feeling overwhelmed doesn't mean you're incapable.
Caring ❤️ deeply about your students doesn't mean you have to sacrifice yourself.
Before you leave work, try asking yourself:
“What is mine to take home, and what can stay here until tomorrow?”
You may not be able to leave every worry behind—but you can begin practicing the boundary.

💚 This school year, don't make your goal to survive until June.
Make your goal to take care of yourself along the way.
You cannot control every behaviour, decision, staffing change, policy or difficult day.
But you can learn to notice 🤔 your stress, regulate your nervous system, set healthy boundaries, and give yourself permission to step 👣back when you can.
You matter too.
And taking care 💝 of yourself isn't taking away from your students.
It helps you show up as the educator—and the human being—you want to be. 🌿

🪷 Why did I create The Women’s Reset?? 🪷

Because throughout my work with women, I kept seeing the same thing.
Women who were exhausted 😩 from holding everything together, putting their families🏡, careers 💼relationships❤️, and everyone else's needs ahead of their own.
Women who were entering a new stage of life and suddenly wondering:🤔

“Who am I now?” 😳
“What do I actually want?”
“Where did my confidence go? ⁉️
And sometimes…
“Why does everything feel so much harder than it used to?”😫

I see women navigating anxiety, 😬burnout❤️‍🔥, changing relationships, ❤️‍🩹shifting identities, perimenopause and menopause, and the enormous mental and emotional load 🏋🏻‍♀️that so many women carry.

And increasingly, I see women discovering something else about themselves later in life:
ADHD or neurodivergence.🧠
For some women, a later diagnosis can bring tremendous relief — 😮‍💨 “There was actually a reason I struggled with these things.”
But it can also open the door 🚪 to a whole new period of self-discovery.
Looking back at your life through a different lens 🔎
Understanding your patterns 🧩differently.
Questioning the expectations you've spent years trying to live up to.
And sometimes wondering 🤔 who you might have been if you'd understood yourself sooner.

It is also personal for me 🙋‍♀️I too understand that entering a new stage of life can bring its own questions about identity, purpose, confidence, and what comes next. We can spend so much of our lives being who everyone else needs us to be that we can lose touch with the woman underneath all those roles.

And I believe women deserve a space 🛋️to explore that.
For far too long, women's experiences have sometimes been minimized, misunderstood, or simply overlooked — particularly when it comes to things like hormonal changes 🥵ADHD and neurodivergence 🧠 emotional well-being, and the complex transitions that happen throughout a woman's life.

I created The Women's Reset 🪷because I want to offer a space where women can slow down and actually listen to themselves. 🧘‍♀️
A space to find their voice🗣️
To understand their minds 🧠and bodies with more compassion.❤️
To explore who they are now, rather than constantly trying to return to who they used to be.

To recognize that this next chapter doesn't have to mean losing yourself.
It can be an opportunity to find yourself in a whole new way. 💛

The Women’s Reset is about creating space to pause, untangle what you're carrying, reconnect with yourself, and begin moving forward with greater clarity and intention.
Sometimes a reset doesn't mean starting over.
Sometimes it means coming back to yourself.

🌿 The Women's Reset 🪷
3 focused psychotherapy sessions for women navigating overwhelm, life transitions, ADHD/neurodivergence, burnout, anxiety, identity changes, and more.
If you've been feeling like you're ready for something to shift, but don't know where to begin, this may be your place to start.

YOUR 80 YEAR OLD SELF WILL THANK YOU !!

Mindful Monday 🧠 for Women with something 🆕 coming tomorrow to Lisa Deighton Psychotherapy 🪷

You Don’t Have to Fall Apart Before You Deserve Support!! ❤️
You know you're overwhelmed when…
You finally sit down, 🪑 but your brain 🧠 won't stop 🛑.
You're exhausted 🥱 but you can't seem to relax.😎
Everyone needs something from you, and you can't even remember the last time you asked yourself what you need 🤔
Small things feel much bigger than they used to.
You keep telling yourself 💭
“Once I get through this, things will calm down.”
But somehow, there is always another this or that
And maybe you're starting to wonder...💭
“Why can't I just handle everything like I used to?” 🙋‍♀️
Maybe you're not lazy.
Maybe you're not unmotivated.
Maybe you're not failing.
Maybe your nervous system has simply been carrying too much for too long. 🏋️
Maybe your brain 🧠 works differently.
Maybe you're navigating ADHD, burnout, anxiety, hormonal and life transitions, or years of being the person everyone else depends on.
Women are often incredibly good at adapting.
We push through.😤
We keep going,
We take care of everyone else.
We tell ourselves we're fine.
Until we're not 😪

💛 You don't need to wait until you completely fall apart before you deserve support.
Sometimes the first step 🦶 isn't doing more.
Sometimes it's pausing long enough to understand what's actually happening.

✨ And tomorrow, I'll be sharing something I've created specifically for women who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or navigating a transition.

For today, just pause ✋🏼
Breathe.🧘
Notice. 🤔
And give yourself a little of the same compassion 💞 you so freely give to everyone else.

Happy Mindful Monday. 🌿

🌿 Mindful Monday: Feel the Feeling….Then Check the Story 🌿

We all experience emotions we'd rather not feel. Anxiety, anger, sadness, frustration... and often, our first instinct is to fight them or push them away.
But what if, instead of fighting the feeling, we paused and became curious? 💭
Notice what you're feeling. Allow yourself to feel it. Then gently ask: What is actually happening right now, and what story might my mind be creating?
Your feelings are valid, but they don't always tell the whole story. Mindfulness can help us create space between our emotions and our reactions—allowing us to respond with greater awareness, compassion, and intention. 💚
You don't have to fight yourself for being human!

🌿 Mindful Monday: Listening to Your Intuition 🌿

Have you ever had that feeling that something just wasn’t quite right, even before you could explain why?
Our bodies are constantly taking in information from the people, situations, and environments around us. Mindfulness can help us slow down enough to notice those subtle signals: a tight chest, a knot in your stomach, tension in your shoulders, or simply a sense of ease or uneasiness.
But remember—intuition isn't the same as anxiety. Instead of immediately reacting to a feeling, pause and ask: What am I noticing? What happened just before I felt this? Is there evidence supporting what I'm sensing?
You don't have to ignore those little red flags, but you also don't have to immediately assume they're right. Pause. Breathe. Notice. Get curious. Listen to what your mind and body may be telling you. 💚

🌿 Mindful Monday: Finding Your Ground in Nature 🌿

Sometimes the simplest way to reconnect with ourselves is to step outside, slow down, breathe, and truly notice what is around us. This week’s blog explores how even five mindful minutes in nature can help us ground, reduce stress, and reconnect with our body, our surroundings, and ourselves. 🌱✨
