I hope you know how much you matter.

My hope for you is to see how much you do, how much you carry, how much you show up for your little people.

I wonder if you can take a moment to honour the big important work you are doing day in and day out. It may often feel invisible to the outside world but by acknowledging ourselves and all that we’re doing, we might start to see and feel how powerful we are ❤️

It is likely that your body is still holding it:

It can show up the way your body tenses up when you remember the lights of the room, the smell of the room you were in, or the feeling of being unheard by someone on your medical team. Often our minds can rationalize and tell us that the moment is over, and we should move on.

But birth is a bodily process and rite of passage and sometimes this experience can leave a mark and show up in our nervous systems throughout postpartum and motherhood (and beyond). It can give us signals through things like recurring stress, exhaustion, anxiety/depression, or just a general unsettled feeling that there may be some processing needed.

Through reconnected birth debriefing and gently tuning into the body, women are not only being seen and heard in their stories, but their nervous systems are being tended to and able to complete processes that may have been disrupted at some point during birth. The main purpose of these sessions being to meet with and release what the body is holding, creating more space and flow and ease in motherhood and life.

It is has been an absolute pleasure to provide this to our community and I also want to acknowledge the vulnerability and bigness that our stories can carry. Women are incredible ❤️

I know that leaving the house postpartum can be a lot. I also know that coming into a new space can feel big on top of everything else you’re holding at the moment.

What I want to remind you is that the village is worth leaving your comfort zone for. You deserve to be held, to gather with other moms, and be met where you’re at.

My intention is for you to leave feeling nourished and resourced for the week ahead.

I’m feeling called to share more about what a ‘reconnected birth debrief’ entails. While each session is completely tailored to the individual and their story, there are multiple tools and approaches we can use to connect with the body in a way that feels gentle and restoring.

The premise of this way of working is to meet with our bodies by connecting, exploring and feeling what is there. Through this connection, our body can release what it’s been holding and we find restoration of flow and more space to meet with life.

While this work is SO relevant to pregnancy and birth and postpartum as these big life events hold a lot of charge, I have seen (and experienced myself), it is also relevant to any stage of life.

For example, what brought me into this work was not the birth trauma or the postpartum anxiety/depression (though I did experience these), it was actually the depletion/exhaustion/collapse I found myself in when my third child was around 2 years old. And through many attempts and avenues explored, I found and finally fully realized how much my body was holding, how much previous events/circumstances/stressors were taking up space in my body, and how much this was affecting the way I lived and mothered and showed up for my family.

With that being said, I have decided to open up my discounted sessions to include any life story/threshold/transition that is feeling big, whether that be a fertility journey, pregnancy losses, birth preparation, early motherhood, mental health, relationship dynamics, career or identity shifts/changes, etc.

Time set aside, just for you, to speak, be heard in full, and process the stories of your pregnancy/birth/postpartum(s).

Life can move really quickly, especially in those early moments of birthing a child and beginning the journey of motherhood. Many women I work with speak about the baby being born, birth being over, and all focus then goes to the baby and the mothering. I often hear women speak about birth as ‘thank god it’s over’, or ‘at least my baby was healthy’, or ‘that wasn’t what I expected’, or even ‘that was amazing and powerful so why do I feel traumatized by this?’, and in the same sentence, ‘but it’s done now and I have to move on’.
But with birth being a rite of passage, the stories and the lessons and the pain and the joy all belong, and every woman deserves to have their experience processed and feel the integration of their experience into their body and their being.

These sessions are a gentle space to reconnect to your body, feel what needs to be felt, process and integrate what still feels raw, and essentially, Allow your story to settle into your system.

So that you can connect to your Strength and your Power and be able to live and mother from that part of yourself.

Birth debriefing has no timeline, there are no finish lines or deadlines, and when the time comes that you feel called to explore any part of your birth(s), I invite you to trust that feeling as your body’s wisdom. Some women feel called to debrief their births within the first 6 months, others not for several or many years.

Women that may resonate with having perfectionist tendencies (🙋‍♀️😅) may find pregnancy, birth and postpartum quite disorienting. When we are used to being in control, studying, learning, achieving, ticking all of the boxes, the uncertainty and roller coaster-like nature of postpartum can really come as a shock to some of our previous patterns (that have served us well in other stages of life) but are not what is actually required of us in postpartum.

When late night google searches have us spiralling, wondering the ‘right’ way to do something, when our babies don’t follow what the books say (hint: many many don’t), and feeling like nothing had been achieved in a day because there isn’t really a tangible measure of success in this phase of life.

If any of this feels true for you, you are definitely not alone and it is actually an extremely common response.

Right now is where gentleness, self-compassion and a sound listening ear can be so nourishing and really really helpful.

Be gentle with yourself as you learn something for the first time (where there is no manual), work on accepting the fact that perfection doesn’t exist and keep reminding yourself of ALL the things you are doing extraordinarily (I can assure you there will be many!)

I want to start by saying that this checklist is not something we need to be achieving every day. It is more meant to be ideas and inspiration for you to reach for when you are needing some nourishment in a tough season.

If postpartum is feeling overwhelming, exhausting, depleting or even when it’s not, tending to our physiological needs can support us in big ways and they do not require much thought or mental energy when we don’t even know where to start.

If you have a bit of space you can pause and check in with your body and this moment and choose something that you can give to yourself. Other times this space won’t be available and you can just pick one thing from this list that feels possible. Even little things can go a really long way and you are developing habits and ways of being that include taking care of yourself as you take care of your family ❤️
