Golden Oaks Best in Blue

Blue is 2.5 years old now and it’s hard to believe she was brought home as a weanling. The excitement and patience of what she will mature to is over.

Blue is now started under saddle lightly and is proving what a good mind she has. She is gaining confidence and strength in her movements although we are not doing any canter work yet.

I’m over the moon on how beautiful she has turned out and keeping her affectionate, willing mind.

Next spring we will have more adventures around the corner. Looking forward to all the places we will see in our future together.

The versatility of the Gypsy. 🤎

I recently saw a post about pack trips with Gypsys. This is something I enjoy doing.

They may be known for their long manes, heavy feather and fairytale looks… but there is so much more underneath all that hair.

Ride them down the trail.
Work cattle.
Pull a cart.
Pack into the backcountry.
Carry a child.
Compete with them.
Take them through town in a parade.
Or ask them to quietly take care of someone who simply needs a safe horse beneath them.

The Gypsy was bred to be strong, sensible, willing and useful — and those are still some of the qualities we value most in our horses today.

Around here, we don’t want our Gypsys to just be beautiful standing in a pasture. We want horses that can go out and have a job. Horses with enough try to work, enough sense to handle new situations, and enough heart to take care of their people.

Pretty is just the bonus.

Versatility is what makes them special. 🤎

SD Emily Rose

Emily comes from a long line of proven bloodlines starting at her sire, the ever beautiful SD Streetfighter.

Emily consistently makes top notch foals which carry her soft eye and abundance of bone and feather.

We have retained two foals from her;
PRR Adair’s Cobalt Legend (2 year old blue roan stud prospect)
PRR Quinn’s Raven Legacy (2026 Weanling filly black)

This is a stepping stone to building a brand and a program but is years in the making.

Emily is a quiet, easy ride and is shy and stays to herself. She has come out of her shell over the years but still remains unsure what all the fuss is about. She takes everything in stride without a thought on the trail and in parades.

She is in foal to NF Woolly Mammoth’s Legacy for the 2027 season and this will be the 3rd time I’ve made this pairing. Keep your eye on this mare, you won’t want to miss what she has cooking up.

At the ranch, we have had people from all over the world join us. Holland, Germany, Newfoundland, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland Pennsylvania .. and the list goes on.

We teach different skills and about the breed and one thing they all say is how calm and willing this breed is. I try to teach them as much as I can in the short times they stay, but they also teach me things and my children. It’s such a fun opportunity to meet people from all over the world and expand your network and friends.

Being close minded does not get you further in life and to always keep learning is such a blessing. One thing I love about horses is they always keep you on your toes and there is more than I can ever learn in this lifetime.

Westmoreland Sunkissed

Sunkissed is a stunning buckskin Gypsy. She is such a top producer and I have retained two of her foals.

Sunkissed unfortunately has an issue with her stifle. She came to me that way, I’m unsure what happened but she had x rays and joint injections and is way more sound since. Now she lives her best life loping around chasing her two previous babies and is pregnant with another for next year.

This mare is a very protective momma so my rule of thumb is I breed her every other year. I have enough mares to be able to rotate and let them enjoy the adventures of life in between.

Every year we face hardships and ups and downs with breeding. I have such an amazing team to help pick up the pieces and push forward. I don’t need to do this.. it’s a passion, a lifestyle but some days it’s a lot. I’m grateful to have a team to lean on with those days that seem heavy.

Hudson my 4 year old stallion has been in training and showing with Samantha VanSickle since last November and he is rocking it.

COGypsyFest (in Colorado) he has competed and won:

🏆1st Hunter Under Saddle
🏆1st English Pleasure
🏆1st Western Dressage Suitability
🏆1st Western Pleasure

Those are currently the updates I’ve been given as of yesterday and that he is on fire 🔥

Hudson is proving himself over and over to become one of the greats and I couldn’t be more proud of him and the team supporting him. He has also made some beautiful goals this year and I look forward to what the future holds for him.
