Still paying out of pocket for pain relief when your benefits may help cover it?

A TENS Machine may be covered under your extended health benefits as a medical supply or durable medical equipment, depending on your plan.

At Fit to Feet Solutions Inc., we carry TENS machines and help clients understand the documentation commonly needed for reimbursement.

Why people use TENS:

* Helps manage certain types of muscle and nerve pain
* Non-invasive electrical stimulation
* Portable and easy to use
* May be eligible under some workplace benefit plans

Before you buy: check whether your insurance requires a prescription, diagnosis, or specific documentation.

Message us “TENS” and we’ll help you figure out your next step.

Repetitive tasks. Same grip. Same wrist. Until the pain starts following you home after every shift.

Warehouse work, trades, assembly, delivery — these jobs demand a lot from your hands, wrists, and elbows every single day. The repetition adds up. Small amounts of strain on the same tendons and ligaments, over and over, often don't cause a sudden injury. They cause a gradual one.

The warning signs usually look like this:
✔️ Dull ache in the wrist or elbow that gets worse as the shift goes on
✔️ Stiffness in the morning that loosens up after an hour
✔️ Pain that used to go away overnight but no longer fully does

An orthopedic brace, properly fitted for the specific joint and the specific issue, can reduce the mechanical strain on that area during work and activity. The goal isn't to mask the pain — it's to support the joint so the repetitive load doesn't keep accumulating.

Different braces serve different purposes. A wrist support designed for carpal tunnel strain is built differently than one for tendinitis or for general wrist instability. Getting the right one matters.

If you have extended health benefits, orthopedic braces may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your plan and the documentation requirements. Some plans may require a diagnosis or prescription; others do not. We can help you understand what yours typically needs.

📩 Message us "WRIST" and tell us which joint is bothering you. We will point you in the right direction.

That heavy, tight feeling in your legs at the end of a long shift isn't just tiredness. Your body may be asking for support.

If you spend most of your day on your feet — as a nurse, teacher, retail worker, or in any other role that keeps you standing or walking for hours — gravity works against your circulation all day long. Fluid gradually pools in your lower legs and ankles, and by the time you get home, your legs feel heavy, sore, or swollen.

This isn't just discomfort. For some people, it's an early sign that their legs need more support.

Here is what actually helps: graduated compression stockings. They apply gentle, measured pressure starting at the ankle and gradually decreasing up the leg — supporting blood flow upward and reducing the fluid buildup that causes that end-of-day heaviness.

The key word is graduated. Not all compression products work the same way, and the level of compression, the fit, and the fabric matter significantly.

A properly fitted medical-grade compression stocking does something a pharmacy shelf product often cannot: it provides consistent, calibrated support based on your actual measurements.

If you have extended health benefits through your employer, compression stockings may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your plan. Requirements vary — some plans require a prescription, others do not — and dollar limits differ from plan to plan.

We help clients understand what their plan may require before they purchase, so the process is straightforward and nothing is wasted.

You stay active to stay healthy. But pushing through knee or ankle pain on every run, every workout, or every game isn't toughness — it's how a minor issue becomes a major one.

Active adults are often the last to seek support for joint pain. The assumption is that some discomfort is part of being active, or that wearing a brace means something is seriously wrong. Neither of those things is true.

A well-fitted orthopedic brace does two things at once: it provides targeted support to the joint during the activity that strains it, and it reduces the cumulative load that builds up over time. For a runner with recurring knee irritation, or someone whose ankle has rolled before and never felt quite as stable since, the right brace can make a meaningful difference in how that joint holds up over months and years.

Not all braces are the same. A brace designed for ligament instability is built differently from one designed for tendon support or post-strain recovery. Choosing the wrong type is a common mistake — and it often means wearing something that doesn't actually help.

We carry orthopedic supports for knees, ankles, wrists, elbows, and backs, and we take time to understand what is actually going on before making a recommendation. We also carry CEP compression products designed specifically for active use and recovery.

If you have extended health benefits, orthopedic braces may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your plan and the documentation your provider requires.

📩 Message us "ACTIVE" and tell us which joint is giving you trouble. We will help you figure out your options.

Most people with employer health benefits have never opened the medical supplies section of their plan. That section often covers products you may already need.

It gets overlooked — but compression stockings, orthopedic braces, and TENS machines are commonly listed under medical supplies or durable equipment in many group benefit plans.

Here is how to check yours:

STEP 1: Log in to your plan portal or call member services. Ask specifically about medical supplies or durable equipment coverage.

STEP 2: Look for compression stockings, orthopedic braces, and TENS or pain therapy devices.

STEP 3: Note the requirements. Coverage varies. Some plans require a prescription. Others have compression level minimums for stockings. Most have annual dollar limits.

STEP 4: Buy with documentation in mind. The product type on your receipt and any required forms need to match what your plan expects before you submit your claim.

We do not direct bill. Clients submit manual reimbursement claims to their own provider. But we help you understand what documentation is typically needed so nothing is missing when you submit.

📩 Message us "COVERAGE" and share your benefits provider name. We will help you figure out your next step.

MYTH VS. FACT: What most people get wrong about TENS machines.

MYTH: A TENS machine is a last resort — something you use only when pain has become serious or chronic.

FACT: Many people use TENS therapy regularly for everyday muscle tension, joint discomfort, and the kind of aching that builds up from physical work or long hours at a desk. It doesn't have to be a last resort. For some people, it's just part of their evening routine.

MYTH: TENS machines are complicated and take a long time to set up.

FACT: Modern units like the Dr. Ho Pain Therapy System are designed for straightforward home use. Most people are comfortable using it within a few minutes of their first session. The electrode pads go on, the setting gets adjusted, and you use it while sitting, resting, or watching TV.

MYTH: It's only effective for older adults or people with diagnosed conditions.

FACT: TENS therapy is used by a wide range of people — office workers with neck and shoulder tension, active adults managing knee or back discomfort, and anyone looking for a drug-free option to help manage day-to-day pain at home.

Important note: TENS therapy is a supportive tool, not a replacement for medical care. If you have a serious injury or medical condition, speak with your healthcare provider about whether TENS therapy is appropriate for you.

If you have extended health benefits, a TENS machine may be eligible as a medical supply depending on your plan. Requirements and dollar limits vary.

DID YOU KNOW? The compression socks on a pharmacy shelf and a medical-grade compression stocking are not the same product — and the difference matters more than most people realize.

This comes up constantly in conversations with clients. Someone bought compression socks at a drugstore, wore them for a month, and noticed little to no change. Then they come in for a proper fitting and the difference becomes clear.

Here is what separates them:

COMPRESSION LEVEL (measured in mmHg)
Most pharmacy products fall in the 8–15 mmHg range — light support suitable for mild discomfort or travel. Medical-grade compression typically begins at 15–20 mmHg and can go higher for therapeutic use. For circulatory conditions, varicose veins, or post-surgical needs, the right compression level is not optional.

FIT AND GRADATION
Medical-grade compression is graduated — strongest at the ankle, decreasing up the leg. This design actively supports blood flow upward. A non-graduated sock applies even pressure, which is far less effective for circulation.

ELIGIBILITY UNDER EXTENDED HEALTH BENEFITS
This is the part that surprises people most. Medical-grade compression stockings may be eligible for reimbursement under many extended health plans. Drugstore versions typically are not. If you are going to spend the money and make the claim, the product needs to qualify — and that usually means a professionally fitted, medical-grade product.

Compression levels, prescription requirements, and dollar limits vary by plan. We help clients understand what their plan typically needs before they purchase.

Some employer benefit plans reset in September. If yours does, August may be the last month you have to use what you are entitled to.

Not every health benefits plan resets in January. Many employer plans, union benefits, and group coverage plans run on a different schedule, with resets in September, April, or on the anniversary of your enrollment date.

If your plan resets in the fall, you may have less time than you think.

Here are 3 signs it is worth checking your coverage right now:

1. YOU HAVE NOT USED YOUR MEDICAL SUPPLIES BENEFIT THIS YEAR
Compression stockings, orthopedic braces, and TENS machines are often listed under the medical supplies or durable equipment section. It is one of the most overlooked categories on any benefits plan.

2. YOU HAVE BEEN PUTTING OFF A PRODUCT YOU ACTUALLY NEED
Swollen legs. Chronic back pain. A joint that needs support. If you have been waiting for the right time, mid-summer before a potential fall reset is exactly the right time.

3. YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT YOUR PLAN COVERS
That uncertainty is what costs people coverage every year. A quick check takes minutes and could save you significant out-of-pocket expense on products you may already need.

We help clients understand what documentation is typically required for compression stockings, braces, and TENS machines so they can go into the process confident and prepared.

📩 Message us "PLAN" and tell us your benefits provider name. We will help you figure out your next step.

He had been managing lower back pain for years. Ice packs, over-the-counter pills, pushing through each shift.

Mark works in construction in Regina. Physical job. Long days. Heavy lifting and concrete floors that never let up.

The lower back pain had been building for a while. He had tried ice packs, heat pads, and he had gotten used to just working through the discomfort. He did not think there was much else he could do short of taking time off, which was not really an option.

What he did not know was that a TENS machine could give him drug-free, adjustable pain relief at home after a shift. That he could use it while watching TV, while stretching, while winding down before bed. And that his employer benefits plan might help cover the cost as an eligible medical supply.

After a short conversation, he walked away with a Dr. Ho TENS machine, a clear understanding of how to use it safely, and the documentation he needed for his insurance claim.

He messaged back a few weeks later. His evenings were more comfortable, and he was sleeping better.

If you are dealing with chronic muscle pain, lower back discomfort, or physical strain from a demanding job, TENS therapy may be worth exploring. We carry Dr. Ho units and can help you understand whether your plan may cover it as a medical supply.
