Cold or Allergy? Know the Difference.

Sniffling, sneezing, and scratchy throat? It can be hard to tell whether you have a cold or seasonal allergies.

Common Cold: Caused by a virus and usually develops gradually.

Symptoms may include:
• Sore throat
• Low-grade fever
• Body aches
• Fatigue
• Thick or discoloured mucus
• Symptoms usually improve within 7–10 days
• Contagious

Allergies: Caused by the immune system reacting to triggers such as pollen, dust, mould, or pet dander.

Symptoms may include:
• Sudden onset
• Frequent sneezing
• Clear, watery runny nose
• Itchy eyes, nose, or throat
• No fever or body aches
• May last for weeks or months
• Not contagious

Tick Bites: Speak with your ZattoRx Pharmacist

Ticks are small blood-sucking bugs that can transmit serious illnesses such as Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Colorado tick fever. Prompt removal and proper medical attention are important after a tick bite.

What Do Ticks Look Like - Ticks are tiny arachnids (related to spiders) with eight legs. Their size can range from as small as a pinhead to as large as a pencil eraser, depending on their age and whether they have fed on blood.

Where Do Ticks Bite People - Ticks prefer warm, moist areas of the body.

How to Remove a Tick Safely - Use fine-tipped tweezers; Pull upward slowly and steadily; Avoid crushing the tick with your fingers

How to Prevent Tick Bites - Wear long sleeves and long pants when outdoors; Use insect repellents containing DEET; Check your body and clothing after outdoor activities

When to Seek Medical Attention - It’s important to contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible after a tick bite — even if symptoms have not started.
