Due to tragic circumstances, we have a family who has had to withdraw their children from summer camp, understandable so. Due to this, we are looking for kiddos age 3-5 years old to join us from August 3-7. If you are interested, please register by July 30.

Practical tips to get your kids mentally and physically ready for outdoor summer fun.

Prepare the basics (you pack the 10 essentials, you can find a list at www.adventuresmart.ca) and make sure packs will be comfortable for everyone.

Talk about what to expect. What is the terrain like? What are the common hazard or high risk hazards? Who is joining? Highlights to watch for? What is the safety plan? What else would you talk about?

Talk about listening to your body. This could be about: hydration, hunger, temperature, 6th sense for safety, rest, etc.

Adjust your expectations: this is a gentle reminder to experience the outdoors through their eyes! You may not make it 5km (or whatever) like you wanted, but, you will share laughs and observe the natural area and that connection is definitely a win to build off of!
