Meet Caitlin, a School & Applied Child Psychology Intern from the University of Calgary. Before beginning her training in psychology, Caitlin spent several years as an elementary school teacher, both in Canada and overseas. Her experiences in the classroom sparked a deeper interest in understanding how children learn and how the right supports can help them feel capable and confident.
Caitlin is also a mom of four, which shapes the way she approaches her work with families. Both teaching and parenting have given her an appreciation for the fact that every child brings their own unique strengths, personality, experiences, and needs. She values taking the time to understand the whole child and working collaboratively with families to make assessment findings meaningful and practical.
Caitlin also values curiosity and the importance of understanding children and families within the broader context of their lives and experiences.
Outside of psychology, Caitlin is an avid runner and loves taking on a challenge. She is currently in the final weeks of training for the Chicago Marathon, where she’ll be putting many months—and many kilometres—of training to the test!
Caitlin brings warmth, curiosity, and a strengths-based perspective to her work. She especially enjoys working with children and adolescents and helping families better understand both the areas that may be challenging and the strengths they can build upon.
When she isn’t assessing, writing reports, parenting four kids, or running very long distances, you’ll probably find Caitlin spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors.
