Ever bite your tongue just to avoid a fight?

Staying quiet can feel like the kind thing to do. But the things we don’t say usually come out anyway, as distance, resentment, or a short fuse over something small.

You don’t need perfect words to start. A simple, honest “Can I share something that’s been on my mind?” is often enough.

If you’re not sure what to say, or how to say it without it turning into a fight, you don’t have to work it out alone. Alex Lundgard, CCC, is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. Alex can help you understand what’s really going on underneath, and find the words to say it.

After school can be a big emotional release for kids.

Instead of jumping straight into questions about their day, try giving them a little time to decompress, snack, move, or simply be quiet.

Connection doesn’t always need a conversation. Sometimes being a calm, safe place to land is exactly what they need.

September often brings a return to routines.

With kids back in school and summer winding down, it can also be a good time to make some space for yourself.

If you've been putting off getting support, counselling can be part of your self-care too. Whether you're navigating stress, anxiety, relationships, parenting, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don't have to wait until things feel unmanageable to reach out.

A new routine can be a good time for a fresh start.

Attachment styles get talked about a lot right now — quizzes, TikToks, the whole thing. And honestly, they can be useful. Having language for a pattern you keep noticing in yourself is a relief.
But we see it happen sometimes: the label starts doing more work than it should. “I’m anxious attachment” goes from an observation to an explanation - a story that quietly decides what’s possible before anything even gets tried.
The truth is, the label was never the finish line. It’s just a starting point for the real work- figuring out what safety actually feels like in your body, what honesty costs you, what it takes for you to trust someone without bracing for it to fall apart. That part doesn’t come from a quiz result. It comes from doing it, slowly, usually with someone else in the room.
If you’ve ever felt boxed in by your own label, that’s worth talking about. www.lakesideclinical.ca

Building tolerance for uncertainty isn’t about white-knuckling through anxiety until it stops. It’s slower than that.
It looks like noticing the urge to text “are we good?” and waiting five minutes before you do. It looks like sitting with the discomfort of not knowing, instead of rushing to make it go away. It looks like reminding yourself, in the moment, that a feeling is not a fact - that this ache doesn’t mean something is actually wrong.
None of this happens overnight, and it’s not meant to. Every time you tolerate the discomfort instead of chasing relief, you’re teaching your nervous system something new: that you can survive not knowing right away. That’s how safety gets built. Slowly, from the inside.
If this is something you’re working on, you don’t have to do it alone. www.lakesideclinical.ca
