First Aid When Someone Gets Electric Shock

(Very Important – Life Saving)

🚨 STEP 1: Protect Yourself

❌ Do NOT touch the person directly
✅ Switch OFF power source
✅ Use dry wood / rubber to separate

🚑 STEP 2: Check Condition

✔ Is the person breathing?
✔ Is the person conscious?

❤️ STEP 3: Give First Aid

👉 If breathing - lay down, keep warm
👉 If not breathing - start CPR
👉 Treat burns with clean dressing
👉 Call emergency immediately

Example:
Worker touched cable, fell down but breathing
Power switched OFF, first aid given, hospital sent

The right device matters:

➡Full body harness? Check anchorage capacity (5,000 lbs minimum)

Self-retracting lifeline? Inspect before every use

➡Shock-absorbing lanyard? Replace after any fall event

But here's the part most teams miss:

Your fall protection system is only as strong as its weakest link. A certified harness means nothing if it's clipped to an unrated beam.

Last year, I walked a high-rise project where workers were using guardrails as anchorage points. The equipment looked right. But the application?

Completely wrong.

We stopped work. Retrained the team. Verified every anchor point.
Zero incidents since.
