First Aid When Someone Gets Electric Shock

(Very Important โ€“ Life Saving)

๐Ÿšจ STEP 1: Protect Yourself

โŒ Do NOT touch the person directly
โœ… Switch OFF power source
โœ… Use dry wood / rubber to separate

๐Ÿš‘ STEP 2: Check Condition

โœ” Is the person breathing?
โœ” Is the person conscious?

โค๏ธ STEP 3: Give First Aid

๐Ÿ‘‰ If breathing - lay down, keep warm
๐Ÿ‘‰ If not breathing - start CPR
๐Ÿ‘‰ Treat burns with clean dressing
๐Ÿ‘‰ Call emergency immediately

Example:
Worker touched cable, fell down but breathing
Power switched OFF, first aid given, hospital sent

Worker fell 30 feet and lost life

The equipment was there. The training was done.

But one missing inspection changed everything.

I've audited over 200 construction sites, and here's what I see repeatedly

Fall protection devices sitting on-site, perfectly capable of saving lives-but not properly maintained or understood.

Falls remain the leading cause of fatalities in construction. Yet most incidents aren't from missing equipment.

They're from misuse, poor inspection, or simply not knowing which device fits the job.

Here's what every site safety professional needs to know:

The right device matters:

โžกFull body harness? Check anchorage capacity (5,000 lbs minimum)

Self-retracting lifeline? Inspect before every use

โžกShock-absorbing lanyard? Replace after any fall event

But here's the part most teams miss:

Your fall protection system is only as strong as its weakest link. A certified harness means nothing if it's clipped to an unrated beam.

Last year, I walked a high-rise project where workers were using guardrails as anchorage points. The equipment looked right. But the application?

Completely wrong.

We stopped work. Retrained the team. Verified every anchor point.
Zero incidents since.

The takeaway?

Compliance isn't just about having the gear. It's about understanding the system

Body support + connection + anchorage. Miss one element, and you've built a false sense of security.

What's your biggest challenge with fall protection on-site?

Is it worker compliance, equipment maintenance, or knowing which device to specify?

Drop your experience below. Let's learn from each other and keep our teams safe.

Share your protocols below.

Someone's life might depend on it.

I'd like to hear what's working (or not) at your sites.

Remember: Great safety professionals aren't born-they're made through learning from others' mistakes.

Lifting Safety - A Small Mistake Can Lift Big Consequences!

Every lift on site-no matter how small-carries a risk.

As HSE professionals, our mission is to make sure no load is ever lifted at the cost of someone's safety.

Here are 7 golden rules every worker, rigger, and supervisor must remember before any lifting operation:

Inspect lifting gear before use Never assume it's safe; always verify.

Use correct lifting techniques - Avoid back injuries; lift with your legs, not your back.

I Never exceed load limits - Respect the SWL (Safe Working Load).

Ensure clear communication - One misheard signal can cause a disaster.

Stay clear of suspended loads - No one should ever stand under a hanging load.

Wear required PPE - Helmets, gloves, boots, and reflective vests save lives.

50s Know emergency procedures - Preparedness is key when seconds matter.

Remember, lifting safety is not just a procedure - it's a culture.

Let's keep every lift controlled, every worker protected, and every operation incident-free.
