I’ve never been one to fit into a box, and I don’t want the doulas I mentor to either.

One of my favourite parts of this work is sharing what I’ve learned, challenging the norm, and helping other doulas find their own way.

I want doulas to feel confident in who they are, question the way things have always been done, and show up for people in ways that actually matter.

Pretty proud to be part of the Academy and help shape what comes next. ✨

The hospital has a folder for pregnancy loss.
I show up for what the folder can’t capture: the grief, the questions, and the need to feel supported.

Full-spectrum doulas are filling a critical gap in reproductive healthcare—bringing compassion, support, and expertise to families navigating miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, and abortion.

Because behind every folder is a person who deserves to be cared for, not just treated.

If you’re navigating pregnancy loss, abortion, or any of the moments that don’t fit neatly into a folder—you don’t have to navigate them alone.

From my doula heart, a little reminder:

A supported mother is not a luxury.
She is the foundation. 🤍

We spend so much time preparing for the baby — the nursery, the clothes, the feeding supplies, the birth plan.

But who is preparing to care for her?

She is healing. She is exhausted. She is navigating broken sleep, hormones, feeding, physical discomfort and the overwhelming transition into becoming someone new.

She can feel deeply grateful and completely depleted at the same time.

So check on her. Sit beside her. Bring her food. Hold the baby. Let her shower. Let her rest. Remind her that she doesn’t have to do this part alone.

Because postpartum care isn’t just about caring for the baby.

It’s about caring for the person who just brought them into the world. 🤍

Inductions are often seen as a failure.
But that’s not what I see as a doula.

I see mothers reach their breaking point… and then find something deeper.

They face the fear.
The anxiety.
The uncertainty.

They navigate intervention after intervention, synthetic hormones, exhaustion, days of waiting — sometimes questioning if they can keep going.

And then…

they do.

They push through. They surrender. They fight. They breathe. They keep showing up.

And eventually, they meet their baby with a strength they didn’t know they had.

That isn’t failure.
That is extraordinary. 🤍

The silent support. 🤍

Sometimes doula work is simply sitting beside someone through the moments that feel impossible.

Through the wins.
Through the losses.
Through the uncertainty, the decisions, and the grief.

Birth, abortion, pregnancy loss, fertility, reproductive health challenges— whatever the moment holds, you deserve support without judgment.

And sometimes, the most important thing I can offer is simply:

“I’m here. You don’t have to do this alone.”
