I've done scary things before. A planned surgery I spent months dreading. A solo move to the other side of the world knowing no one. The kind of things that feel impossible before they happen and survivable after.
I haven't given myself enough credit for that. For getting through the things that felt impossible before they did.
As a kid, when something scary was coming, I learned to think of it like a movie I could control pieces of. To picture it already done. It helped the logical side of me — okay, it's a short moment, it will pass. But it didn't touch the emotional side. The part that held the memory of what that moment actually felt like in the body. The part that needed more than logic to get through.
What I know now that I didn't know then is this: I don't have to do the hard things alone anymore. Not really.
Yes — there are moments you face by yourself. Nobody can do it for you. But being alone in a moment and being unsupported are two very different things.
I have a team now. One that holds me from a mind, body and spirit perspective in ways I couldn't have imagined before I built it. My family is part of that too — more woven into all three realms than I used to recognise.
And what comes after the hard moments — the processing, the settling, the finding your footing again — my team is there for that too. My massage therapist for what my body needs to release. My counsellor for what my mind needs to work through. My Reiki practitioner for what my spirit needs to settle. My homeopath for whatever comes up that I haven't anticipated yet. And my family for the moments in between when I just need to be held without any words at all.
What comes after doesn't have to be navigated alone either.
If you're facing something hard today — something that feels bigger than you — I hope you know that survival mode doesn't have to be the only option. You can be held through it.
Does any of this sound familiar? I'd love to know — have you learned over the years how to better navigate the unknowns? What kind of support have you found helps you through the scary things? And has that changed with each experience?
Sometimes hearing how others have found their footing is exactly the reminder we need that we can find ours too
