A reel came across my feed from an account overseas where someone is using the tip of a scalpel to poke small cuts across a woman’s forehead and face, and the claim is that it stimulates collagen.

Microneedling is a real treatment, and it works because a device delivers sterile needles at a controlled, measured depth every single pass. A scalpel tip, freehand, is not that. Uneven depth, open cuts, and a very real risk of scarring and pigment, especially in deeper skin tones like mine.

Depending on where you sit, this is ragebait or it is clickbait, and either way it is sensationalizing something unsafe in front of a lot of people who will not know the difference.

Happy Canada Day, and happy birthday, Stephanie.

Today we get to celebrate two things we love. The country we’re lucky to call home, and one of the people who makes Bonita feel like Bonita.

We have someone new joining the Bonita family, and we cannot wait for you to meet her.

Stephanie is a medical aesthetician with 13 years of experience, and she joins our team this month. She’s starting with expert waxing, brow and lash services, and custom facials, with laser treatments soon to follow, and she brings the kind of warmth that makes you feel looked after the moment you sit down. As a busy mom of two herself, she knows how rare it can feel to set aside time for you, and she treats every appointment as exactly that, unhurried and personal.

Her approach fits Bonita to a T. Every patient seen, respected, and cared for, with no rushed appointments and no judgment, just thoughtful care delivered with intention.
