This week I attended the Trustage Canadian Summit in Ottawa. I had the honor of speaking to colleagues on how I am building my personal preneed business.

There’s no secret sauce but there are key points that help any business grow a strong foundation.

Authentically being a good listener and caring about the people I sit with, have been two things critical to my success so far. In less than two years, I have helped approx 450 families secure peace of mind. That’s over $2.2 million in funeral annuities that will save loved ones from the financial burden associated with laying their loved one to rest.

Thank you for trusting me and helping me reach my goal. We are just getting started.

This evening I had the honor of speaking to a team of nurses who were together celebrating their 45th graduation reunion. It was a unique experience to be invited to speak about pre-arranging to a group of woman who were coming together to celebrate their life choice of being in the health care profession. Thank you for seeing the importance of educating people on the benefits of planning ahead.

A special thank you to Caul’s Funeral Home for providing such a beautiful Urn which was given away to one lucky person.

My heart is full knowing I started the conversation for many families tonight.

Grief isn’t something that can be fixed or eliminated. It is a part of life and proof of love.

Healing is learning ways to live with it, and that takes time. Don’t rush the process and certainly don’t feel pressured to “get over it”. There is no getting over it. When we are ready, we start moving forward with it and that journey is unique.

Today I had the privilege of visiting Glasnevin Cemetery, in Dublin Ireland: a place rich in history, meaning, and humanity.

As someone who works in pre-arrangements, I was especially moved by the story of Daniel O’Connell, known as The Liberator. O’Connell was a champion of civil rights, religious freedom, and equality in Ireland. His vision helped create a cemetery where people of all faiths could be buried with dignity and respect at a time when such opportunities were limited.

Standing at his final resting place today was a powerful reminder that one person’s vision can leave a legacy that impacts generations.

Walking through the cemetery, I was reminded that every life has a story, every family has memories, and every person deserves to be remembered with dignity.

I left feeling grateful—not only for the opportunity to visit this remarkable place, but also for the work I do each day helping families plan ahead and create peace of mind for those they love.

History, legacy, and humanity all came together today, and I am thankful to have experienced it. ☘️❤️

If you knew how many sunsets you had left,
would you still rush through dinner,
ignore the phone call,
put off the trip,
delay the apology,
wait to say “I love you,”
or save the good wine for “a special occasion”?

Would you still hold grudges,
worry about the things you can’t change,
work through the weekend to please a boss,
or spend so much time proving yourself
instead of simply being yourself?

If you knew how many sunsets you had left, maybe you’d sit a little longer on the patio.
Maybe you’d laugh louder; sing louder. Maybe you’d try something new and not worry about perfection. Maybe you’d take more pictures and take the time to print them off.

Maybe you’d hug a little tighter and longer, dance even if everyone’s watching, dip your feet in the ocean. Maybe you’d stop waiting for the “right time” to live because you’d realize time doesn’t wait.

Life is a lot like a sunset— beautiful, fleeting,
and its beauty and intensity isn’t always realized until it’s almost gone.

My friend,
Take time for sunsets.
Book the trip.
Say the words.
Forgive the mistake.
Wear the outfit.
Take the chance.
Love your body.

Don’t waste another second postponing joy.
Tomorrow is never promised.

(The picture below was the inspiration for these words. Renée and I watched the most beautiful sunset a few nights ago on the CBS Trailway in Newfoundland. I almost didn’t go because I thought I had too much work to do. Glad I didn’t miss it.)

This week, we said goodbye to someone very special in our family.

As I stood in the visitation room and took in every detail, I couldn’t help but feel the quiet strength behind it all — because so much of it was her. Long before cancer entered her story, she had already taken steps to protect her family. She had life insurance and critical illness coverage in place, ensuring that when the time came, finances would never be an added burden.

And when she realized her journey might take a different turn, she continued preparing — thoughtfully, intentionally. She was involved in creating her own obituary, making decisions about her celebration, and leaving behind clarity instead of questions. She gave her family the most meaningful gift: peace of mind during one of life’s hardest moments.

She lived simply, but her life was rich in all the ways that matter. She never spoke a negative word about anyone. She measured wealth in friendships, experiences, and connection. She loved Labrador deeply — fishing, hunting, and nurturing the land. She could grow anything you put in the ground. She was known and adored for her sewing, and remembered most for her generous spirit.

This week, the importance of pre-planning wasn’t just something I talk about — it was something I witnessed, in real time.

If there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s this: these are conversations worth having while you are able. It’s never too early to pre-plan… but it can be too late.

Today, on Autism Acceptance Day, I’m reflecting on voices like Temple Grandin—and also on my own responsibility in how I show up.

Everyday I accept, and everyday I’m aware that uneducated assumptions and biases exist. I will forever and a day do my part to educate people that autism isn’t something that needs to be fixed—it needs to be explored on an individual basis and accepted globally.

I used to work with families of children living with an autism diagnosis, and it will forever be etched in my heart. I learned more—and retained more—spending time with these incredible kids than I ever did in a university classroom.

Autism isn’t one story. It’s a spectrum filled with unique perspectives, strengths, sensitivities, and brilliance. Acceptance means listening, learning, and making space for people to be exactly who they are—without judgment.

Unique, not less. 💙
