Dr. Sharja Pabon I help everyday athletes move better.

Temporary sacrifices for long term results. It could be sitting out that game/run, doing an extra lap, not taking on extra work, or booking that check up early.

A lot of what we do is a choice. Let’s remind ourselves that’s a privilege. ⭐️

So each action should be a conscious one. Not out of routine. Not out of convenience.

Whether you’re building or rebuilding, every action has a consequence. If we focus on the long game, what consequence would we rather have?

No one can take care of you better than yourself. It starts with you ❤️

My 8 for 8 🏀 at the foul line 🎯. 8 years in sports rehab has been a minute, but the mentality never changed.

Here’s what I keep telling my athletes/patients:

1. A lot in life is a phase, but your health isn’t one of them

2. Focus on the long game. Don’t chase soreness, chase results.

3. Chiropractic adjustments/manipulations aren’t enough for active patients or athletes. More tools can mean more solutions.

4. Rehab should look different for each person

5. Recovery isn’t rest

6. Age is not the excuse, priorities are

7. Anticipation is everything

8. Mobility over flexibility

To tape or not to tape? Is that the question?? 🔍

After taping many ankles in Toronto, it really depends 🧐

Whether it’s professional sports or life, our bodies have to perform. If we don’t, a game, a job, one’s livelihood can be on the line.

Performance is the ability to adapt consistently and respond effectively. So keep your movement consistent, not rigid. Keep your movement intentional, not generic.

When you’ve got your routine locked in 🔒 and your unique goal identified, the results will come easier. 🔥

For the next time someone tells you they treat sports injuries 😉

When you focus on the process, the rest will follow.

💡 The physiology behind medical explained.

🧬 Deep tissue relaxation
- oxygen molecules from the blood cause bound (tight) muscle cells to unbind (relax)
- needles influence layers of muscle at a time

🧬 Isolated muscle treatment
- no muscle is too deep
- no muscle is too small given the pin-point architecture of the needle

🧬 Tissue healing
- increased circulation can mean better blood flow that supplies the necessary repair cells

🧬 Pain management
- gate control theory of pain (stronger stimuli from the needles lessen the brain from sensing pain from the injury)
- nervous system down-regulation through parasympathetic stimulation

Hitting the slopes after a 9-year hiatus taught me;
✨ nerves and fear are not the same thing
✨ the body can be resilient with preparation
✨ embracing the falls took me further than bracing for the falls
✨ the falls taught me more than the clean runs
✨ black diamonds aren’t as daunting as I thought
✨ surround yourself with the right people

Until next year ✌🏼

March 8 is International Women’s Day but this post couldn’t wait. 🥳

Let’s celebrate the women in our lives. Let’s support the women in our communities. But let’s make that impact on a deeper level.

The lived experience of a girl/woman will ALWAYS be different. So let that direct our next conversations at home, school, practice, business, etc.

March 8 may be International Women’s Day, but let’s celebrate and support women every day. 😊🔥💪🏼🙌🏼
