💚 **MENTAL HEALTH MYTH BUSTING — DAY 7** 💚

✨ **MYTH:** “Asking for help is a sign of weakness.”

🌿 **FACT:** Asking for help is a sign of self-awareness, strength, and courage — not weakness.

Life can be challenging, and you don’t have to face everything alone. Reaching out to a trusted friend, family member, teacher, doctor, or mental health professional can be an important first step toward healing and feeling better. 💚

💡 **Asking for help can:** 🤝 Build meaningful connections and remind you that you’re not alone. 🌱 Connect you with support and resources. 💭 Help you better understand your thoughts and feelings. 💚 Prevent challenges from becoming more overwhelming.

Remember, you don’t have to wait until you’re at your breaking point to reach out. You deserve support, understanding, and care at every stage of your journey. Taking that first step is a sign of strength. 🌈

💬 **A gentle reminder:** You are not a burden for needing support. You are human.

🧠 MENTAL HEALTH MYTH BUSTING — DAY 5

💭 MYTH: “Children don’t experience significant mental health problems.”

✅ FACT: Children can experience significant mental health challenges, too. These challenges can affect their emotions, behaviour, relationships, learning, and everyday lives.

🌱 Mental health challenges in children may include:

Anxiety and excessive worry
Depression and persistent low mood
Trauma-related difficulties
ADHD and other behavioural or developmental conditions
Eating disorders
Significant changes in sleep, appetite, or behaviour

💙 What should parents and caregivers look for?

Children may not always have the words to express what they’re feeling. Sometimes, emotional distress shows up as irritability, frequent headaches or stomachaches, withdrawal, difficulties at school, changes in sleep, or sudden behavioural changes.

✨ THE BOTTOM LINE: Mental health challenges aren’t limited to adults. Every child deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. Recognizing the signs early can make a meaningful difference.

Let’s create a world where children feel safe to express their emotions and know that asking for help is okay. 💙

DAY 5: MYTH vs. FACT 🧠💙

Myth: “Talking about su***de puts the idea into someone’s head.”

Fact: Asking someone directly about su***de does not cause them to become suicidal or plant the idea in their mind.

In fact, asking openly can create an opportunity for someone who is struggling to speak honestly and receive support.

Talking about su***de can:

🗣️ Open the door to an important conversation when someone may feel isolated or afraid to speak up.
💙 Help you understand what they’re experiencing instead of relying on assumptions.
🤝 Show that you care and are willing to listen without judgment.
🧭 Help connect them with appropriate support when they may be at risk.

If you’re concerned about someone, a simple and direct question such as:

“Are you thinking about su***de?”

can be caring, appropriate, and important.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes, simply being willing to ask, listen, and stay present can make a meaningful difference.

Bottom line: Asking about su***de doesn’t plant the idea—it can make it easier for someone who is already struggling to tell you what’s really going on. 💙

Welcome to Day 4 of our Mental Health Myth-Busting Series! 💚

As we continue our journey toward World Mental Health Day on October 10, today we’re challenging another common misconception about mental health.

❌ MYTH: Depression is just sadness.
✅ FACT: Depression is much more than feeling sad.
Depression doesn’t look the same for everyone. Some people experiencing depression may not feel sad at all. Instead, it can show up in many different ways:

• Emptiness or numbness — feeling disconnected rather than sad • Loss of interest or pleasure in things you once enjoyed • Irritability or anger — which can be especially noticeable in some children, teens, and adults • Low energy or constant fatigue • Changes in sleep or appetite — sleeping much more or less, or eating differently • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions • Withdrawal — avoiding people or activities, even when you can’t explain why • Feelings of worthlessness, guilt, or hopelessness

And here’s something important to remember:

Depression isn’t necessarily constant.

Someone can laugh, go to work or school, spend time with friends, enjoy a moment, or genuinely have a good day—and still be experiencing depression.

💭 So, a better way to think about it:

Depression isn’t simply “being sad.” It’s a mental health condition that can affect mood, motivation, pleasure, energy, thinking, behavior, sleep, appetite, and more.

That’s why saying “You don’t look depressed” based on how cheerful someone seems can unintentionally minimize what they’re experiencing.

💚 You can’t always see what someone is going through.

Let’s replace assumptions with understanding, compassion, and support.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reaching out for professional support can be an important step.

Let’s keep breaking the stigma, one myth at a time.

🧠 MENTAL HEALTH MYTH-BUSTING — DAY 3

Welcome to Day 3 of our Mental Health Myth-Busting Series! 💙

As we continue counting down to World Mental Health Day on October 10, today we’re challenging another common misconception:

❌ “Anxiety is just overthinking.”

Let’s bust that myth.

Anxiety isn’t simply about thinking too much or being unable to “switch your brain off.”

It can affect your thoughts, emotions, body, and behaviour. You may experience:

💭 Racing thoughts or constant worry 🧩 Difficulty concentrating 😣 Restlessness or irritability 💪 Muscle tension ❤️ A racing or pounding heart 🌙 Trouble sleeping 🚪 Avoiding certain people, places, or situations

And sometimes, you may not even know exactly why you feel anxious.

Telling someone to “just stop overthinking” can leave them feeling misunderstood or dismissed. Anxiety isn’t always something you can simply turn off by thinking differently.

💙 The good news? Anxiety is manageable, and support can help.

Therapy can help you understand your triggers, regulate emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop healthier ways to cope.

Instead of saying:

❌ “You’re overthinking.”

Try saying:

💬 “I can see you’re having a hard time. How can I support you?”

Because anxiety is more than overthinking — and people experiencing it deserve understanding, compassion, and support, not judgment.

🌿 You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Welcome to Day 1 of our Mental Health Myth-Busting Video Series. 🧠💙

Myth: “Therapy is only for people with serious mental illness.”

Let’s bust that myth. ✨

Therapy isn’t only for when things feel completely overwhelming. You don’t need a diagnosis, and you don’t have to be in crisis to talk to a therapist.

Sometimes, therapy is simply a space to understand yourself better, manage everyday stress, work through relationship challenges, build confidence, process difficult experiences, or learn healthier ways of coping.

Think of therapy as a safe, confidential space where you can pause, reflect, and work through what’s going on in your life.

You don’t have to wait until things become really difficult before asking for support.

Therapy isn’t a sign that something is “wrong” with you. It can be a step toward feeling more understood, supported, and better equipped to navigate life.

So, if you’ve ever thought, “My problems aren’t serious enough for therapy,” remember:

You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support. 💙
