COTI has worked tirelessly to bring education, opportunities and hope to the Mpigi District of Uganda. Guide Mental Health has had the privilege of joining them in a number of initiatives, including the first ever Mental Health & Digital Safety Camp in July 2025.

We are incredibly honoured to have been able to contribute funding, workbooks and live education for the second season of Mental Health & Digital Safety Camp!

Over 400 students attending on February 19 and 20, 2026, to participate in lectures, debates, counselling and fun-filled activities that build reliance, empathy, and community.

Representatives were selected to become Youth Mental Health Ambassadors, who would return to their home schools to provide awareness and education to their peers.

We thank COTI for their tireless work on this project, as well as Services in Action, who contributed not only their time and efforts in fundraising, but also gave one of the key lectures on digital safety.

A big THANK YOU to the generosity of the Royal Ontario Academy!
As many of our regular followers know, GMH partnered with Community Change and Transformation Initiative (COTI) four years ago to support education opportunities, vocational supports, and mental health services in the Mpigi District of Uganda.

We now welcome another partner, Royal Ontario Academy, who has generously donated online high school courses, free of charge, to allow select Ugandan students to work towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Please join us in raising awareness of the important work being done by COTI and consider donating towards school fees, our mental health initiatives, or any of the other important programs that bring hope and opportunity to the youth of Mpigi District.

More information can be found on COTIs website https://www.cotiuganda.org/ or you can contact Guide Mental Health directly to see how you can help [email protected]

Thank you to COTI Uganda for allowing Guide Mental Health to be a part of such as ground breaking project! The Secondary Students Mental Health and Digital Safety Camp, the first of its kind in Uganda, brough together high school students to learn about mental health and keeping themselves safe online. Through interactive workbooks, guess speakers, activities, and in the moment counselling, COTI is one step closer to bringing sustainable change at the grass roots level. The newly certified Mental Health Ambassadors will take their knowledge back to their home schools and communities, increasing education and reducing stigma.
This camp was funded entirely through our generous donors, and run by COTI staff and volunteers from Guide Mental Health.
We hope this will be first of many so keep an eye out for our next funding drive!

At Guide Mental Health, we feel strongly about reducing the barriers to seeking mental health services. Two of the biggest hurdles is finances and knowing how to find the support that is right for you.
With the assistance of Services in Action (https://servicesinaction.org) and Star Spider of the Counter Project (https://www.thecounterproject.org), we have worked to create a database of free/low-cost services that is searchable by both area of need and identity factors.
We understand that many seeking support are not able to manage the fees associated with private practices. This should not be a barrier to help. Whether working with GMH directly or using our website to find affordable services, we are committed to the goal of mental wellness for all those seeking support.
