From mat leave to mentorship mode. 🤱💪

Welcome back, Amanda Raguseo, our Pickering Clinic Manager! She’s diving right in—leading an in-house training on TMJD physiotherapy management.

At Propel, we know that great clinical care starts with continuous learning. That’s why our senior clinicians (like Amanda) make time to pass on their expertise, while newer clinicians actively soak up every technique, cue, and clinical pearl.

What that looked like in this training:
📸 Amanda breaking down the TMJ’s dual “hinge and slide” mechanics
▪️ Hands-on practice for manual therapy & muscle energy techniques
▪️ Team discussion on how poor posture (forward head position) drives jaw pain
▪️ Clinicians practicing assessment of clicking, locking, and deviation

Why mentorship matters for YOUR care:

When experienced clinicians teach and newer clinicians learn, it doesn’t just build skills—it directly improves the service you receive. You get a team that treats the whole person:

✔️ Jaw pain + neck tension – treated together
✔️ Evidence-based manual therapy + exercise
✔️ Education to stop clenching/grinding habits
✔️ Postural retraining to prevent relapse

TMJD isn’t just “jaw pain.” As our blog explains, it can cause headaches, ear fullness, facial tightness, and even neck/shoulder stiffness. Physiotherapy works—by restoring mobility, reducing muscle overactivity, and retraining movement patterns. Link in bio to read full blog

Welcome back, Amanda. And thank you to every clinician who teaches—and every clinician who learns. That’s how we propel our clients forward.

SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE🚶‍♂️💔

For our campaign, we’re honored to share this client’s journey. After a life-changing fall that left him unable to move his right side or speak, his recovery has spanned over a decade.

But here’s what resilience looks like: walking on a treadmill 🚶‍♂️ lifting weights 🏋️ riding the bike 🚴 cutting the grass 🌿 shovelling snow ❄️—and walking his dog—3 times a day just because it’s fun. 🐕

And for the first time since his accident, he’s been to Barbados 3 times to see his family. 🇧🇧

He credits his physiotherapist, Sahash, for helping him get stronger step by step. “He’s helped me get so much further. I’m not perfect, but I’m getting there.”

This is why we do what we do. Not just for the milestones—but for the moments that feel like magic again.

Thank you, for trusting us. And thank you for reminding us what is really about. 💙

This year marks a decade of Propel. To celebrate, we’re highlighting 10 clients (1 each month) who have left a permanent mark on us. These are some of the people who redefined what “possible” means.

Next up: Going the Distance ♿💪

After an industrial accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down, Anthony’s hopes and dreams for the future world-class athlete were shattered.

Anthony knew he had to learn to view the world through a new lens and overcome daily barriers in an effort to live a life that was both fulfilling and inspiring.

So, despite his spinal cord injury, he made a conscious decision to persevere, build new dreams, and triumph in the face of life’s adversities.

Today, Anthony is not just living life as in injury survivor, he is thriving as a motivational speaker, entrepreneur and race car driver.

We are so inspired by Anthony and feel so grateful to have played a small part in his journey.

Drop a 🎉 in the comments to show your support as he continues to go for his goals!!!

Balance isn’t just about standing still. It’s about doing two things at once.

Most falls don’t happen when you’re concentrating on your balance. They happen when you’re distracted—walking and talking, carrying bags, or navigating a busy street. 🚶‍♀️📱

That’s why Dual Task Training is a game-changer.

It’s a rehabilitation approach that challenges you to perform a physical task (like walking) and a cognitive task (like counting or answering questions) at the same time.

Physiotherapist Kathy Mileski explains how training this skill can:

✅ Improve gait and stability in real-world conditions
✅ Reduce fall risk for older adults and those with neurological conditions
✅ Bridge the gap between the clinic and daily life
Train for the way you actually move.

Welcome to . 🎥

This year marks a decade of Propel. To celebrate, we’re highlighting 10 clients (1 each month) who have left a permanent mark on us. These are some of the people who redefined what “possible” means.

First up: 100 Years; 10,000 Steps 🚶‍♂️💪

After a car accident left him with a broken neck and injured legs, he went from needing a walker to walking 10,000 steps a day; and setting one ambitious goal: walking 10km every day for the 10 days leading up to his 100th birthday!

From our hallways to his stairwell, watch him put in the work with his physiotherapist, Hoong Phang. Special mention to Scott French who started his physiotherapy treatment.

Drop a 🎉 in the comments to cheer him on as he kicks off this series and works towards this ambitious goal!

Arthritis doesn’t have to mean the end of movement. 🚫🦵

Worried that exercise will make your joint pain worse? The right kind of movement is actually one of the best things you can do.

Low-impact doesn’t mean low-value. It means being strategic to protect your joints while building strength, flexibility, and stamina. Physiotherapist Kathy Mileski explains why activities like:

🚶‍♀️ Walking
🚴 Cycling
🏊 Aquatic exercise
💪 Strength training
..can help reduce pain, improve function, and even slow disease progression.

Stop guessing. Start moving with confidence.

❄️ It’s that time of year again… snow shoveling season! ❄️

Whether you use a shovel, snow blower, or another tool — staying safe is essential. Before you clear your driveway or pathway, keep these tips in mind!

✅ Warm up first — Start slow with smaller loads. We have a full warm-up routine in our Snow Shoveling Injury Prevention Tips blog and videos.
👉 Check it out: link in bio
✅ Dress in layers — Choose materials that wick sweat and let you move freely. Stay warm AND dry!
✅ Switch up your grip — Alternate between overhand and underhand to prevent forearm or wrist strain.
✅ Use your legs, not your back — Adopt a lower, wider stance. Drive through your hips and legs to protect your spine.
✅ Take breaks & team up — Shovel with a buddy when possible and take frequent rest stops.
✅ Keep loads low — Avoid lifting snow above waist height to reduce strain.
✅ Move smoothly — No sudden twisting, jerking, or quick turning motions.
✅ Check with your doctor if needed — If you have a heart condition, please consult your GP before shoveling.

🎯 Remember: the goal is completing the task safely, not racing against the clock!

Have fun out there — and be safe! 🧤🧣
