Life has a way of humbling you when you least expect it 🦋

One day, you’re caught up in the little things. The schedules, the responsibilities, the things that feel so urgent. And then life reminds you how quickly everything can change.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much of our time we spend worrying about things that, in the bigger picture, matter so little.

A little more gratitude. A little less rushing. A little more grace for ourselves and everyone around us.

Because at the end of the day, the ordinary moments we take for granted are often the ones that mean the most 🤎

Everyone’s fed. Everyone’s happy. And mama gets to sit down while the sun is still out 🤎

Sometimes regulation isn’t a morning routine, meditation, or perfect self care practice. Sometimes it’s simply noticing the moment when nothing needs you right this second.

A few ways to help your nervous system actually receive these little pockets of calm:

• Notice what feels good right now.
• Resist immediately filling the space with another task.
• Let “nothing is urgent” be enough.
• Stay in the moment a little longer than you normally would.

Rest doesn’t always need to be scheduled. Sometimes you just have to notice when it arrives ✨🍂📚☀️

I used to think boring meant I wasn’t living enough 🍂

Now boring looks like:
5pm dinners.
PJs by 7.
A clean kitchen.
A glass of w**e with absolutely no intention of seeing midnight.
Plans I’m genuinely excited to cancel.
Kids asleep.
Phone down.
Home.

Turns out, boring was the life I was trying to get to 🤎

Peace is a form of luxury 🤎

We spend so much time thinking rest will come after everything is done. But there will almost always be something else to do.

A few ways to create more calm in your everyday:

• Give yourself small pockets of time with no productivity attached
• Choose something that signals safety to your body: warmth, quiet, reading, music
• Notice the urge to “make the most” of your downtime — and practice simply being in it

Sometimes regulation isn’t another thing to work on. Sometimes it’s letting yourself have a quiet night ✨

The last week has been a reminder that life can change gears very quickly. You can be working, parenting, answering texts, making dinner — and at the same time carrying fear, uncertainty, exhaustion and a hundred unanswered questions.

A few things I’ve been reminding myself:

• Let the ordinary routines hold you when everything else feels uncertain.
• Don’t demand that you “process” everything while you’re still living through it.
• Take information one piece at a time instead of mentally racing toward every possible outcome.
• Eat. Sleep. Step outside. Accept the help. Your nervous system needs the basics too.
• Make room for small moments of normalcy without feeling guilty for them.
• And remember: coping well doesn’t mean you aren’t scared. Sometimes it simply means continuing to move through the day while making space for what you feel.

As therapists, we talk so much about holding uncertainty. Sometimes life gives us the opportunity to practice it ourselves.

Healing isn’t always about feeling better right away. Sometimes it’s about finding enough steadiness to stay present while you wait for what comes next.

August really is the Sunday of summer 🕯️🌗🤍

That feeling of knowing something good is coming to an end, so you start noticing all the little things a bit more. The long evenings, slow mornings, bare feet, swims, sunsets and nowhere we really need to be.

Maybe transitions aren’t always about being ready for what’s next. Sometimes they’re about letting yourself fully appreciate what’s ending.

And maybe the goal isn’t to hold onto a season, but to notice what you want to carry with you from it.

Soaking up every last bit before life shifts into September mode ✨

“If it makes you happy, let it be enough” doesn’t mean stop growing 🌗

It means stop postponing your happiness until the next promotion, the bigger house, the perfect body, or the next milestone. You can absolutely strive for more while also appreciating where you are today.

As humans, we often struggle with this for two reasons:

1. Our brains quickly adapt to what we have. What once felt exciting becomes normal, and the finish line quietly moves farther away. Psychologists call this the “hedonic treadmill.”

2. We learn to measure our worth through achievement. Many of us were praised more for what we accomplished than for simply being ourselves, so “more” starts to feel like the only place we’ll finally be enough.

A practice that helps: pause before chasing the next thing and ask yourself, “If nothing changed for six months, what in my life would already be worth appreciating?”

Contentment and ambition can exist together. Gratitude doesn’t kill motivation, it keeps your goals from becoming the only place you believe happiness lives 🌗

Normalize a “good enough” summer ☀️🍉🎈🍒💛

Some adventures. Some lazy days. Some screen time. Some muddy feet. Some memories you’ll treasure, and some days you’ll simply survive.

Some days you’ll say yes to another popsicle. Some days you’ll need five minutes to yourself. Some days the house will be a mess, dinner will be simple, and everyone will still end the day feeling loved.

Our kids don’t need a perfectly planned summer filled with expensive trips and constant entertainment. They need to feel safe, seen, and connected. They need parents who laugh with them, rest with them, and show up as themselves ✨

Being present will always matter more than being perfect. Because years from now, they probably won’t remember whether you did enough. They’ll remember how it felt to be with you.
