I used to think I just needed more self-control.
More discipline. More willpower. More prayers asking god to take the cravings away.
But every night, I'd find myself standing in the kitchen again. Making another promise I couldn't keep. Feeling completely alone even when surrounded by people.
Until the morning everything changed.
I woke up with a mass scare hanging over me. Anxiety crushing my chest. And I finally stopped trying to fix it myself.
I said out loud: Lord, I surrender it all to you.
Not the food. Not the weight. Not the anxiety.
All of it. The control I was clinging to. The shame I was carrying. The belief that I had to figure this out on my own.
That surrender wasn't weakness. It was the beginning of real freedom.
Because emotional eating isn't a food problem. It's a soul problem. And it needs a soul solution.
You can't pray your way out of unhealed wounds. You can't discipline your way past emotions you've been suppressing for years.
But when you stop striving and start surrendering, when you let god into the root of it all, that's when the healing actually begins.
Not because the cravings disappear overnight. But because you finally stop fighting alone.
You're not broken. You're not lacking faith. You're carrying wounds that need his grace, not your guilt.
And the moment you surrender them, everything shifts.
