To advocate for RPNs in diverse settings, resulting in optimum client health services through policy, legislation and regulation. Today, our CEO, Lori Singh, met with MPP Dr. Adil Shamji for an introductory conversation about priorities for Registered Practical Nurses and opportunities to work together in support of Ontario’s nursing workforce.

Retention was a key focus of the discussion, including the importance of creating the conditions that help RPNs stay, grow and thrive in the profession.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect and look forward to continued dialogue on how we can strengthen the nursing workforce and support RPNs across Ontario.

This summer, WeRPN joined a government consultation on Ontario's Dementia Strategy to share the RPN experience and perspective.

Yesterday's $13-million investment to expand dementia care and specialized supports in long-term care is an important step forward.

With more than 60% of Ontario long-term care residents living with a dementia diagnosis, RPNs are on the front lines of this care every day. Strengthening dementia care means ensuring they have the training, tools and supports needed to provide high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care.

WeRPN welcomes this investment and looks forward to continuing to work with government and sector partners to ensure the RPN perspective remains part of Ontario’s dementia strategy.
