Did you know that our RMT Lauren provides Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage?

Lymphatic drainage can help prevent and manage lymphedema - swelling caused by fluid buildup when the lymphatic system cannot properly drain fluid. This is a common side effect of cancer treatment, especially when lymph nodes are removed or radiation therapy is involved.

Visit our website to learn more about lymphatic drainage and how physiotherapy and massage therapy can support you on your cancer rehab journey! 💚

It’s not just physical, it’s mental. Heather describes that frustrating gap between what you want to do and what your body allows. Metabolic dysfunction often feels like being “wired and tired” all at once. Our Metabolic Rehab program is designed to bridge that gap with a team of specialists who look at you holistically.

May is EDS Awareness Month 💙

One tool often used to screen for joint hypermobility is the Beighton Score. It’s a 9-point scoring system that looks at several joints. You get 1 point for each side of the body that can:
• Bend the pinky finger back past 90°
• Bend the thumb to touch the forearm
• Hyperextend the elbows past 10°
• Hyperextend the knees past 10°
And 1 point if you can:
• Place your palms flat on the floor with straight knees

In adults, a score of 5 or more out of 9 may indicate generalized joint hypermobility, though age and other factors can affect scoring.
The Beighton Score is only a screening tool - not a diagnosis - but it can help start important conversations about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and other hypermobility conditions.

POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) affects how your body adjusts to standing - often associated with dizziness, rapid heart rate, and fatigue.

To do an at home self test:
Lie down for 5 mins → record heart rate → then stand up and track heart rate each minute for 10 mins.
An increase in heart rate of 30+ BPM (40+ for kids) that lasts for greater than a minute may suggest POTS.

Stay tuned to learn how physiotherapy can help with the management of POTS, and visit our website to learn more!

Metatarsalgia isn’t just one thing — it’s an umbrella term for forefoot pain that can have several causes, from poor foot mechanics and tight calves to ill-fitting footwear.

It can feel like:
🦶Walking on a pebble that won’t go away
🦶A burning or shooting pain into your toes
🦶Numbness or tingling in the front of your foot
🦶Pain that gets worse the longer you’re on your fee

Our pedorthist looks at your gait, your footwear, and the way your foot loads during movement.

Orthotics, better footwear, stretching programmes, and a biomechanical assessment from a pedorthist can all make a real difference. Want to learn more about metatarsalgia? Read the article on our website, link in bio!

Are you wondering if a pedorthic assessment or treatment might help you? 👣👟

Swipe through this case study to learn how physiotherapy and pedorthics worked together to help a recent patient. Pedorthics helped by providing custom foot orthotics to decrease the mechanical imbalances in the feet and reduce the load on the tissue. Physiotherapy helped by managing pain, promoting healing, improving joint mobility, and rebuilding strength. Together, the treatments from the two professions worked much better than either one alone!
