To ensure health care for all, Ontario must stop health care privatization and implement mandatory safe staffing ratios. Across the province ONA members are collecting petitions to show growing support for this demand.

During Nursing Week, Ontario NDP MPPs Sandy Shaw, Robin Lennox, Chris Glover, Jessica Bell, Teresa Armstrong and Kristyn Wong-Tam read more than 1500 petitions into the Legislature, demanding that FordNation and Sylvia Jones introduce nurse-to-patient staffing ratios in all health-care settings.

MPPs from all of Ontario’s opposition parties are in support of this call for staffing ratios, and it’s time for the conservative government to take action on this issue!

Please like and reshare this post to help amplify this call!

HAPPENING TODAY!
Across the province, ONA nursing homes members are taking to the streets today to turn up the pressure on CEOs and the FordNation Conservatives ahead of their next phase of contract negotiations!

They're hosting information pickets outside their workplaces to demonstrate collective strength in support of their bargaining demands: wage parity with hospitals, improved benefits and safe working conditions.

Show your support by joining a info picket near you. Find all the picket locations on our website: https://ona.org/campaign/nursing-homes-bargaining/

Mirali is one of the more than 4,400 ONA members working at nursing homes across the province who are negotiating a new collective agreement right now.

And TOMORROW, Thursday, June 4, she and her colleagues will turn up the pressure on CEOs and the FordNation Conservatives with information pickets across the province!

Hosted outside their workplaces, these pickets will raise public awareness about their fight, and demonstrate collective strength in support of their bargaining demands: wage parity with hospitals, improved benefits and safe working conditions.

To kick off National Indigenous History month, ONA staff and Board members gathered at ONA’s Toronto office to unveil the new names of our meeting rooms, which have been renamed to honour Indigenous medicines from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Traditions. This was the first of several ceremonies that will be taking place at ONA offices across the province.

This initiative is the result of thoughtful collaboration between ONA's ReconciliACTION Team and the Staff Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, in partnership with Elders and Indigenous Knowledge Keepers. We are grateful for the guidance, teachings, and care that informed this work.

This is just one step in ONA’s ongoing reconciliation journey, and a part of our broader commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, inclusion and belonging. Learn more about this important work on our website: https://ona.org/anti-racism-and-anti-oppression/
